I e-mailed my EC on Sunday, and so far he hasn't responded. I was wondering how quickly everyone else's ECs replied.

My EC responded within minutes. I was his first interview. I guess I was just lucky and we were both online at the same time (although it was at like 11:30 at night).

Had mine on September 7th. The nearest EC was traveling that month, so I drove myself 2 hours to Modesto, CA for the interview. I wore a pair of khaki shorts and a nice polo shirt. I brought NOTHING with me.

Interview started with typical, how are you, how was the drive, weather... etc. She offered me a drink, then we got started.

Questions I can remember:
Why MIT?
What do you do outside of classes?
What field are you interested in pursuing?
Ok, so sitting right next to you is someone with identical grades, test scores, and courseload and rank at an indentically sized school with an identical student body. MIT has one spot left. Who gets in, and why?

Those four are the only ones I can pull out of my brain... most of the time we were just generally conversing, usually it was me telling her some story about something I've done in high school, and then she'd note something interesting and we'd go off talking about that for awhile... actually, most of the interview was pretty much one large chain of segued stories.

One of her dogs was particularly interested in me, and she did feel a little bad that it was jumping all over me most of the interview. (As a side note, it took a drink of my water... which I forgot about later and still drank out of. She laughed a bit at that.)

Upon leaving, she left me with a 'drink for the road' and well-wishes for my application. She also made sure that if I had anything else I wanted to add, that I could just phone or e-mail her. Upon getting home, I sent off a couple paragraphs finishing up some storylines from the interview and adding a couple others. A couple days later, she replied back, saying she sent off the application.

Overall, I think it's the best part of the application process. I was able to pick her brain a bit about life and MIT and how the whole application process went for her. I'm a little more at ease now, after having spoken with her.

I had my interview today. It was 30 minutes long and got straight to the point. I think it went well!

My interview was a few weeks ago, and it went well too. Basically, my EC and I talked for about 1.5 hours, and everything was really casual. My EC was an undergrad from the Class of '05, which was cool since she just graduated months ago and told me about what MIT is like now.
