Hi, I recently visited MIT and fell in love with the campus. I am interested in a business/public health field, but I am definitely not the typical math/science student.
I know that MIT is a huge reach, but I was wondering if my different application will help me at all?

Thanks and I will chance back!!

PS I know MIT does not seem like it would be my first choice, but I really loved the atmosphere there! If anyone has suggestions for me that would be great.

you are on the right track…u r stats are similar to mine, but i would try to get the SAT score up to 2250+ and show a bit more passion for math/science

Your ECs look pretty strong, if you’re able to bring up the SAT more it will definitely increase your chances. btw how did you get an internship at UNICEF?

I’m sure you have passion for the activities you posted (no one on this forum seems to get that on these threads, people can’t and don’t have time to really elaborate on their ECs, just list, etc.)…your SAT is fine, but make sure your math is 750+…other than that all you can do is hope! You still have a great shot!

You’re on the right track, and will get points for not being a math/science person (at least, I think … introduces variety, right?). Can’t say for sure of course.

t2777, why not Williams and Amherst college? I think those are good for you, on the basis of the info I have here. They’re still tough to get in (I think 15-20 percent accepted).

I would raise the SAT scores.
UNWTD GPA is very good.
Class Rank could be a few percent higher.
Curriculum is a good IB track and will get you far.
You might want to list the AP /IB exams you already passed and what your scores were.
More on your Accolades, maybe a brief description of your letters of rec.

But all-in-all i would say with these thoughts and a positive attitude, id say you have a good shot! Chance me when you get the chance!
