MIT is my dream school but I had a low GPA in 9/10th grade because of OCD which I got help for and my grades saw a drastic improvement. Do I stand a chance? I am thinking of applying Early Action to show them that I am committed.
For further context:
SAT 1560
GPA 3.5 / 4.8 weighted out of 6.1
Class Rank: top 25% at a large/competitive HS in NJ.
Include that on the application where you’re asked if you want to explain extenuating circumstances. I think the lower GPA will be excused in light of the diagnosis.
Get the good grades and yes, go ahead and apply. Just realize what the acceptance rate is and have other plans.
Showing commitment means nothing to MIT as just about every applicant will show commitment.
