MIT Blog

I was wondering is there anyway to get an MIT Blog, without actually attending MIT? I mean, that would be awesome to get one. I am trying to see if I can get someone on the inside to get me one.

What is an MIT blog?
Like a livejournal?

Yes, it's possible, but nobody really knows how long they'll continue to work for non-MIT people. They might just clear all of the blogs not registered to @mit.edu e-mail addresses, for all we know.

LSA. How can I get a MIT BLOG? is there any way to get an mit.edu email address? That would be best x-mas gift ever!

You can't get an mit.edu e-mail address unless you're a registered student or somehow otherwise affiliated with the Institute. The MIT blog registration process is left as an exercise to the reader ;)

I got a blog yesterday, and I don't go to MIT (yet (hopefully)). I'm not sure whether I want to keep it, though. I keep worrying that it's going to affect my admissions decision, even though I know it probably won't.

123 - How would having an MIT blog affect your admissions decision? I thought the adcom's are very professional about these things.

I Got My Own Mit Blog!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111111111111111

I guarantee that a MIT blog is not going to affect your decision :)

what LSA said :)

Hmmm... for the email address, I will have to contact with someone on the inside.

You can't get a mit.edu e-mail address unless you are a student, faculty member, or are somehow affiliated with the Institute. Attending RSI or similar residential program would constitute affiliation. :)

Yeah. But I am a sophomore, and I can't apply to those things yet.

which is precisely why you cannot get an @mit.edu address ;)

Yeah, I know it won't. It's just one of those monster-under-the-bed kind of fears.

I got one....but.....forgot the password .. :D

so its still blank...lemme see from where did i get it...

not only are @mit addresses uber-cool, but they come with the full MIT account. Just recently they upgraded to 1000 MB storage space (well ok, same as a gmail account), they're uber awesome! Also Athena (MIT's computer system) has a plethora of ultra expensive software that you can use. Matlab, mathematica (with all the options you can think of) and I'm sure tons more that I don't even know about. But most importantly, there's well over 200 games on athena :-) (inlcluding nethack and xkobo) Who wouldnt want an MIT account? :-P

So there's far more than just an @mit address with your MIT account.

Sagar how did you get the MIT blog?

hehe... that is the challenge isn't it? I thought you wanted to go to DUKE or something though?

My goal is to somehow get one. First I will try and research the workings of the account. Does anyone know whether MIT students just sign up for accounts, like you can at yahoo? Or does the administration assign them? If that doesn't work, I will just start corresponding with some grad, and eventually, I will become an AFFILIATE!!!
