Hey everyone! This is my first post so forgive me if this question has already been asked. So obviously, MIT is known to be an engineering powerhouse, but they have great international studies/relations and economics departments as well. I was wondering, in general, if it was slightly easier to get into a school like MIT majoring in something other than engineering such as econ or int'l relations, both of which I'm personally very interested in pursuing. Thanks!

You don’t declare your major until after your first year, so really there is no difference in admissions ( I think) if you apply to a specific department.

It makes no difference. You don’t apply for undergraduate admission to MIT through a department (unlike grad school). Whether you express an interest in aerospace engineering or management, the criteria for admission are the same.
