MIT Chances?

GPA: 3.8/4.0
SAT: 750 math, 600 verbal
Good EC's

reach .. SAT is below average for MIT

but my friend had those scores and got into MIT. do MIT care at all about the verbal SAT??

sat II, APs ??

They care about it. Not as much as they care about the math section, but they do care.

I think to get a better assessment, you'd have to post your ECs. It's impossible to tell based solely on GPA and SAT; an overwhelming percentage of the people who apply have those stats or better, and it's impossible to differentiate between likely acceptees and those with no hope without more information.

hey your math score isnt great,,

^ for mit is what he meant to say. Mit rejects people with perfect scores, they want a full rounded person. My guidance counselors nephew got rejected with a 800 Math, 730 Verbal, 790 Math IIc, because his sats were great but he had not ec. Also your verbal is a little low remember there are other aplliacnts with higher scores and loads of ecs, you have to compete with them

Yup, according to the data used by the revealed preferences study, MIT rejects about 50% of people with perfect SAT scores.

Yes MIT is an engineering school, but they don't want people who can only do math (mainly because that would make their school look bad). Also, if you wanted a serious analysis of your chances, I would suggest posting up your entire application rather than just SAT I score and GPA.

besides 750 isn't spectacular at MIT, lots of people get 800's

What if your an international student (live in USA for 3 years) ? Would they accept you because they need more international students?

um..they don't need more international students..in fact, the acceptance of international students is only 5% at MIT, as opposed to 15% acceptance of domestic students.

How long do you have to live in USA to be considered domestic student?

you need to have USA permanent resident to be considered domestic.

why don't you put up all your stats rather than just the test scores so people can tell your chances more accurately?
