MIT Class of 2018 - THE WAIT BEGINS

Good luck!

I’m just grateful that the decisions will be released on a Saturday. Last year for RD, they were released on a weekday at 6ish PM, and I forgot to open the decisions thread on time and it was awful.

moderatorproblems

Hey Mollie, when is CC getting hashtag function? ;)

Good luck guys! :D

@marciemi LOL your son texted his brother before he texted you. Congrats though.

For those of us that are Jewish orthodox Sabbath observers, after sundown on Saturday would be much more preferred!

At this time last year, we were anxiously awaiting the early action decision, preparing ourselves for our son’s acceptance or rejection from his dream school. What I was not prepared for was deferral which is what he got. Be assured; life after deferral does exist. More applications sent to back up schools, updates provided, etc. On 3.14, he got accepted and has been living his dream at MIT. I look forward to any proof of life I can get as he is so busy but he assures me there is no other place on Earth he would rather be.

Someone should make a results thread and I will sticky it…

[Here it is.](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/massachusetts-institute-technology/1588918-mit-class-2018-ea-results-thread.html#post16682017)

I got an email from them asking about my 1st quarter grades. What does this mean???

^ If your school is on a quarter system or trimester system, MIT wants to see the first set of grades you got for this year.

^ I thought that was the February Update.

Are you saying all EA applicants need to send first quarter or first trimester results, and if they haven’t, emails from the Admissions Office are going out now…two days before results are released…to request this information?

^Go to [Your Early Action Deadline Questions | MIT Admissions](Your Early Action Deadline Questions | MIT Admissions). Then search for the word “quarter,” and you should see that they do not require first quarter grades.

I linked to my research project in my application, and it has not been visited/clicked. Does that strongly suggest my application was rejected? (I included an abstract and the PDF of the research in the application.)

EA applicants do need to send the mid-year report, but not right this second – not until January.

No, it doesn’t suggest anything one way or another. The readers try to view supplemental links, but they’re pressed for time, and your readers may have felt that your abstract and PDF conveyed enough information about your research project already.

^ Thank you. You mean “EA applicants”, or admittees/deferrals?

So what could be a plausible explanation for the poster in #90 who received a request for current quarter grades today?

EA deferred students, for sure, and I think also EA admits.

I am not sure about the meaning of the contact in #90. I have not heard of the admissions office contacting an applicant directly before – in the rare cases when they need further information on an applicant, they’ll generally contact the applicant’s guidance counselor.

Thank you, again

Less than 24 hours!

Currently sooo nervous. Sort of regretting applying EA; but I know I would’ve hated waiting during the RD period. Might have to end up enduring that wait anyway…

SOO scared :(…
