The King of the Internet has spoken.
Good luck everybody!
I’m gonna log out until the 15th. See you all then!
EA admits are the absolute cream of the crop. It’s very difficult to admit a student before seeing the majority of the applicant pool. It probably requires tremendous confidence.
Anyone received email from MIT with decision date and time.
My son got one yesterday.
@MITChris Chris, I’ve heard two different stories on how important (or not) support from MIT Varsity coaches is to a candidates admission chances. On the one hand, I’ve heard it means nothing…on the other hand, I’ve heard that if you have the grades/scores to get into MIT, having the coach’s support helps a lot at the next level of admissions. Which is true? Thanks
@brazos21 From MIT Ask Admissions:
Does MIT Recruit Athletes?
MIT is one of the top Division III athletic programs in the country. Last year MIT placed 8th in the Director’s Cup Standings.
The 2014 Football Team played in the Division III NCAA tournament for the first time, defeating Husson 27-20 and then losing to Wesley College in Delaware to end their dream season.
MIT is always looking for students-athletes. We are the largest Division 3 athletics program in the country; in fact, twenty percent of undergraduates play at least one varsity sport. You can learn more about the varsity athletic opportunities available at MIT at the DAPER website.
If you are a prospective student interested in playing varsity sports at MIT, you should contact the coach of your sport by completing a recruiting form. Depending on your potential contribution to MIT’s varsity athletics, they may choose to advocate for you in the admissions process, support that we consider along with the rest of your application.
Unlike many other schools, MIT does not send “likely letters” or do “signings”, nor do our coaches have discretionary “slots” which they may fill. Prospective athletes to MIT are subject to the same rigorous, academically-focused admissions process as all other applicants.
Did anybody’s counselor get a call from MIT asking about grades?
@kanye4prez Don’t know of anybody who was asked to send in 1st quarter grades. Were you?
Reading the Stanford thread has me PUMPED. I just want this to be over haha
tbh, one of the biggest reasons I was reaffirmed in applying to MIT was because of @MITChris 's comment “I too am a potato”
Hoping for a good Thursday!
my job is done here
Has anyone made a results thread yet?
@lhw1998 there is an EA results thread, no results obviously
@MITChris This is the first year that the Sloan School has launched 3 new undergraduate programs. So will MIT be accepting more students this year than it usually does?
Hey everyone, international student from Egypt here, best of luck with your college admissions process and remember it’s all about your mentality now what lucky school ends up admitting such bright, intelligent people like you! The fact that you signed up for CC and keep thinking about it already shows how motivated you are, best of luck!
@ndterm no
do you like pineapples on your pizza
@MITChris do you like pineapples on your pizza
@MITChris For students who apply to engineering departments, like Computer Sciences, are applications also read by the faculties from that department?
