MIT Class of 2021 Applicants

@MITChris do you actually look at things students link to in the additional information section? (Also, what if we accidentally filled in a grade for a first semester senior year class on the application?)

& I’m gonna be a nervous wreck tomorrow. Fun times.

Guys, I’m actually super hyped for my MIT rejection letter tomorrow. I heard that it’s one of the nicest rejection letters out of all college rejection letters, and I have to agree.

All my hard work in school, outside of school, and on standardized tests for these past four years has been building up to this rejection moment. I will cherish this rejection forever, and it will undoubtedly be my most prized award for the rest of my life. I will always remember and celebrate December 15, 2016 as the day I got rejected from MIT.
:]

@ChozenJuan You got to be confident man! I am ready to see that acceptance despite the low chances. Really nervous of course but anything is possible and I did my best and there is nothing I can do now. Good luck to everyone! Stay positive, don’t be scared to be disappointed, be excited to be accepted.

You should all feel grateful you find out immediately. I had to wait for my letter to arrive through the postal service 33 years ago. I hope those of you who gain acceptance will attend. My time at MIT is one of the brightest highlights of my life. There aren’t enough superlatives to describe how wonderful a place it is.

just curious did anyone apply humanities majors here?

All yalls should really invest in a profile pic! Helps everyone else read these threads.

Mathematics major here

i wasted my time going through my mit app and censoring out stuff so instead of typing in the box my decision and all that (my hooks and rec letters and classes) i’ll just straight up give you my mit app (but heavily redacted). password for copying so you can’t extract any info behind the censoring boxes.

Tau time a.m or p.m?

Pm

PM lol. I couldn’t imagine walking around school knowing my decision all day.

yep!! i applied for writing but also expressed interest in chembio engineering

Remember, guys. You never really “apply” for anything in the application to MIT. The essay in which you share your favorite department at MIT must not necessarily even discuss the department you choose to work at; all it has to discuss is the department that “appeals to you the most.”

None of us is really applying for any specific major since you’re not required to mention your major in the application.

ChozenJuan is exactly right

You never really apply for a major especially since departments aren’t necessarily associated with a single major all the time
Ex. Institute for Data, Systems, and Society is technically a department but will fall under the purview of numerous majors.

Hey guys, any international student here?

@JustStressed I am!

Just wondering if any international student got an interview!

Good luck to everyone today!!

To be honest, I still have not come to terms with a possible rejection. It’s been years since my school had an applicant accepted at a top school. (pre-2011) Everyone is rooting for me… Rooting for me to show it is POSSIBLE for someone in a school like mine to make it to wherever one wants to go! This would be the biggest achievement. But once I do come to terms with a possible rejection, whether it will be during school, when I see my results, or when I see my results in March (i.e. if I get deferred), I can finally move on from my three-year obsession with MIT and onto my future.

I’m an international, and I have been interviewed. It was over skype, with an alum from my country, and other applicants from here have all been interviewed as well.
I think if your interview was waived, you’re not at a disadvantage. A friend of mine (MIT class of 2019) had his interview waived, and was later interviewed in January, and later admitted, so keep your hopes up
