Does anyone know whether it is ok to submit updates for awards and extracurriculars now that the FUN Form deadline has passed? (E.g. AIME Qualification)
@joshsun - as mentioned above, we are in India and my daughter completed her interview with an alum in India a month or more ago.
@CValle Wow I thought they gonna send out interviews during late February. So receiving an interview one month ago really sounds weird to me; anyway, congrats to your daughter and wish she can be accepted!
Just FYI, at first it was waived, then she was contacted for a skype interview, then she was reassigned to an interviewer in our city.
@joshsun I’m from China. Received interview a month ago.
@slzhang Fine, I see now…Thanks for the information.
I am doing my interview today. Through Skype with alumnus. Initially waived. Then MIT admission office sent an email about the interview opportunity.
@zninjamonkey Okay…So they are not sending interviews all by once…
@joshsun I am not sure about that. I know another applicant was offered coz the email address was cc’ed in the email they sent me. But I am very sure there are many applicants to MIT from my country. So they must be picking randomly or something.
@bardib @manchesternashik My MIT interview was initially waived (it was written “You were not assigned an Educational Counselor (EC), as none were available in your area.” on MyMIT page) But I got an offer last week from the admission office to a Skype interview with an alum. I have done that interview.
Well, I haven’t been offered an interview and I can only imagine receiving one being a good sign. They are selective in my country AFAIK. Hope yours went well!
Interviews, afaik, are purely based on availability. Sometimes there aren’t as many alumni interviewers as there are applicants. I think the admissions officers want everyone to have the opportunity to have an interview, like in @zninjamonkey’s case. I think what is happening for you, @bardib, is the former.
@curiousscience afaik you can email the admissions office any updates, even after the FUN form deadline. They have someone that’ll add it to your file
(but idk how much of an impact it will make because it’s getting pretty close to the decision date so they’ve probably gone through most of the process already)
I did EA and spent most of my free time reading through their blogs lol
@vik0likes0cs @curiousscience I’m going to be emailing the admissions office something on Saturday night. I notified them that I’d be doing that in my FUN form, though.
Falling in love with MIT even more. I’m reading the blogs a lot, fantasizing about the brass rats, and changed my lock screen to a pic I took of the great dome last time I was on campus. Figured I’d dig the knife in now so it isn’t as hard on Pi Day.
I’m also planning out my Pi Day already. It’s going to be a Treat Yo Self day of sorts since I know I’ll be very anxious all day, especially since decisions come out in the middle of jazz band rehearsal for me.
This waiting has me all on edge
