Right, as I said, having an interview shows “serious interest”, and as such may give a bump. However, the point was that whether it feels like a “good” or a “bad” interview has very little impact (virtually none). I’ve done admissions interviews elsewhere and have followed CC enough to know that admissions committees give very little weight to the actual interviewer’s report. @anyexreita need not worry about having had what felt like a so-so interview. It won’t have any impact. However, I was not aware that interviews were required. I know that they are not even available in all regions.
@brazos21 If everything is complete by the end of November they say it will be January.
@planner03 it has consistently been mid December. Class of 21 was Dec 15, Class of 20 was Dec 16, and Class of 19 was Dec 16th and Class of 18 was Dec 13th.
Data from when the blog was dated for the “Decisions are out” post
Someone just posted on MIT 2022 FB that they got accepted…and just found out because they were recruited for basketball. Has anyone heard of athletes hearing early?
@brazos21 That is not how MIT works. You can’t get accepted by recruitment, you have to get accepted into the school first. The coach only gives a letter of recommendation to the AOs
ok guys. Got my sat subject scores and they are pretty awful (science less than 700). are my chances completely gone? R.I.P.
Retake the science if possible and hope to be deferred and not rejected if you have already applied ED. Sorry to be frank.
@Sam-I-Am I’m retaking it for other schools anyways so I should be okay if I get deferred. If I get rejected, oh well. Who knows, I may miraculously get accepted!
Good luck!
@brazos21 nope, there seems to be a misunderstanding because I pm’d them and they said that the coach just gave them a lot of support but they would still need to apply like normal, so same as all the other athletes.
@vik0likes0cs thanks…makes more sense…
Wait, did people’s interviewers ask questions and stuff? Mine just told me that he’s bad at asking questions and that I just talk about myself. When I couldn’t think of anything else to talk about, he just looked at my resume and then asked me if I had any questions. He definitely was super passionate about MIT from his answers, but my interview was very much one-sided. Did anyone else have that?
@LetsDoThis0 mine seemed to have a short list of questions that he prepared before the interview, and some other questions he came up with based on what I said. It was more like a conversation and definitely not one sided. But I would keep in mind that these are just people who have gone to MIT and are curious to meet new applicants, so everyone’s interview will be different and the fact that yours was one-sided definitely won’t hurt you in any way. My interviewer even made sure to mention at the very start that the interview has basically no impact on your app - just the fact that you did it and that there were no bad red flags. I’d just focus on the rest of your app if you’re doing regular (especially getting good recs) and if you did early, then sit back and relax because the rest is out of our control
Thanks @vik0likes0cs yeah I did EA so im getting excited for the decisions in ~2 weeks!
Anyone here doing RD? MIT’s my top school but I needed time to retake tests so I’m applying RD. Already had my interview over a month ago, though!
Good luck to all of you with EA decisions in a few weeks! I have some friends who applied EA.
@LetsDoThis0 ahhh same I’m so excited and scared! X_X
thanks @frazzledazzle ! Good luck to you and your friends too!
@frazzledazzle Yep. Me. Goodluck to all the EA applicants!
Anyone know when EA decisions are out?
@equality4all someone in the fb group said the 14th sounds likely because 12/14/17 and 1+2+1+4=1+7 (MIT does stuff like that) and it’s a Thursday, which is a common day for EA decisions to be released.
