MIT Class of 2022 applicants

By when will MIT release a date and time for the release of its EA decisions?

@rick78 Last year decisions were released on Thursday Dec 15 at Tau Time…6:28 pm eastern

@brazos21 Do you have any idea when did MIT inform its applicants of that date and time?

@rick78 first week of December

I heard a rumor that they’ll be released on Thursday December 14th at 6:28pm.

Guys I already got my decisions … ACCEPTED!

OMG . . . Same!!! See you at CPW! Dreams do come true!

…in 2016 @hypsm2022 hbu?

2017 is prime, but I guess that I’ll still see you in April!

How did you two receive your acceptance notice? Why do you think you got them nearly 2 weeks early?

@Sam-I-Am Pretty sure they didn’t and are just messing with us, cpefqeFp is class of 2021.

Still managed to give me a heart attack though lol

Yes, hypsym2022 and I are from the class of 2021. Best of luck everyone with their apps this yr! Around 2 wks to go! Sorry if that caused any confusion.

When we applied to the class of 2021, we got our decisions in 2016 (early action)

Hey!

Am I supposed to be done with Part I and II of the application before contacting my interviewer? I didn’t see this mentioned anywhere, but this is what my interviewer told me.

@AhmedAY nope, I had my interview before I finished part II. I think they might be able to see your app though, so maybe your interviewer is requesting that you have yours finished before so he has more content to go off of? To be honest, I think that could only benefit you because you’d get a chance to talk more about your activities/essays etc. I’m not sure though, so I’d contact admissions about it if I were you.

@vik0likes0cs I would’ve liked more time to work on my essays. Plus, as per this blog post (http://mitadmissions.org/blogs/entry/advice_on_how_to_approach_your), it seems that ECs shouldn’t be able to see my application content in the first place.

We have created a group on Telegram. Pm me if you are interested in joining.

ECs don’t see your application, but can see which parts you’ve completed. Your EC wants to make sure you are a serious candidate before spending time interviewing you.

@brassratter How can you tell if the student is serious without seeing what they’ve entered? I’d guess most kids work on the essays in a separate program (Word, Google Docs, etc) then paste them in at the end. The editing features are better and many application websites suggest this so you don’t accidentally lose work. My kiddo spent many days working on her various essays without needing to be logged in to the application websites. (And I guess her EC still thought she was serious because she had no trouble setting up the interview.)

How did you do the “describe your world” essay? Do we HAVE to discuss how it shapes our goals, specifically our career goals? I really had fun writing about an extracurricular community I love and its abstract effect on me, but struggled to tie it in to what I want to study.
