son rejected too. Great stats. Great ECs. Did some work with one of the labs at MIT. Oh well.
Rejected
waitlisted! This is my first not rejection so I’m very happy
Rejected…It was expected since it is my top school but yeah sigh
Admitted, hands are shaking so much right now. Can’t believe I made it
Rejected
Rejected too…gonna let myself sulk for a few minutes and then remember that there are a few colleges out there that accepted me and want me
waitlist!
Waitlisted!! Let’s go boiiis
Son rejected. Understandably upset as he has been excited about MIT and anxiously awaiting this day. Strong stats ACT 35, SAT 1580, Subject tests 800 and 780, great recommendations, APs, ECs (swim team, jazz, pit band, pep, wind ensemble, math team, etc.), tutoring, work history in the field, GPA 4.65. Just was not meant to be : (
Sad over here but many many congratulations to all who made it in!
MODERATOR’S NOTE:
I have deleted several posts from a user which seem to have served no purpose but to needlessly stir the pot. I have also deleted the responses to that user. Carry on.
Congrats to those who have been accepted.
Rejected, oh well, on to next one…
D is in!
First, my sincere congratulations to everyone who was accepted. All of the students who apply to MIT have everything to be proud of. If you were rejected, please remember that no matter how sad you can feel at the moment, this is most certainly NOT a moment that you will remember when you are 100, the moment before you die. You will remember the people you love and the great things you have done in life, which will not be related to the college you attended, but to the accomplishments you had as an individual. A college is a means, not an end, and you will be able to get to where you want in life no matter what college you attend if you work diligently and passionately in something you love.
@opyf64 My daughter was not accepted against more odds than the usual. She had all the credentials that your child had. And then she got accepted to a school that accepts few. It has been a perfect fit for her.
@skieurope How then can we exchange information that is important to us but may seem insignificant to you? It seems rather subjective for a public forum. I don’t feel there were any bad intentions, just sincere transparency.
DS rejected. SAT 1560 ACT 36 4.0 GPA. Sports and excellent ECs. No hooks though. Too bad.
We had the same, an athlete with many head coach convos and the coach supported them and said my kid was a top recruit with the highest scores for the team, award winning athlete, and scholar, etc…same story. Was led to believe one thing and something else happened. Ironic there are so many controversies surrounding college admissions these days : )
Anyone going —“Woah, this is weird.” Very few posting admits. Look at the MIT admit blog. Like 4 kids have said “I got in.” A few here. A few on Reddit. It’s 3.5 hours after decision time. Nada. Crickets. Weird. You guys on the waitlist may have more of a shot this year.
Waitlisted after deferral. Can’t say it doesn’t sting a little… a lot.
