@yusufr98‌ @bboy219‌ How is UCLA is low reach?

@sonofgod908 why, did you expect it to be a reach? Because there is no way that it’s a high match. The unweighted GPA is a bit low, but you still have solid chances. Good luck!

I thought you were going in to your senior year summer http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1741058-what-should-i-do-in-my-going-into-senior-year-summer.html#latest
In that case, how do you have senior year grades?

@sonofgod908‌ Ucla is a really hard school to get into to. I thought I would be able to get in but digging deeper I found that it’s pretty prestigious and they want a higher GPA. The only way it’s a high match is if you are in state

@yusufr98‌ Please read my qualifications carefully. It’s not all about GPA. I took Multivar Calc in sophomore year. Im president of 2 clubs, one of which I founded. Decent SAT Scores. Won international music competitions.

@sonofgod908 GPA is by far the most important decision admissions especially at a selective school like UCLA. CA schools are harsh with calculating GPA in your case as even a B+ is counted a a 3.0. If you are out of state even your higher level math classes will not be added weight as only classes that are AP/IB have an extra +1.0. Even honors classes get no weight for out of state.

@bartmta‌ But A-'s are counted as A’s too. I’m pretty sure that Above AP Classes count for +1.0 weightage.

@sonofgod908 all that I was saying was that I(and other people) believe its a reach. If you didn’t want to hear other peoples opinions you shouldn’t of asked for them.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology - high reach (low acceptance rate, and your composite SAT score is low - CR score)
Carnegie Mellon University - high reach (there was a thread on the Colleges and Universities --> Alphabetical List --> C --> Carnegie Mellon that talked about info needed to know about CMU admissions, and it said that if your SAT scores aren’t within the 25th percentile or higher range, then you should write better essays and do better elsewhere; otherwise you have no chance)
University of California at Berkeley - reach (see reason for MIT and also you’re going in for Comp Eng)
Cornell University - reach (Ivies are reaches)
Georgia Institute of Technology - match (just apply EA and write good essays for Georgia Tech)
University of Michigan at Ann Arbor - high match, low reach (write good essays, but chances are you may get deferred from EA)
