MIT/CMU/UCB/Cornell/UCLA/UMICH: reaches, particularly if CS major much harder. What’s your UC GPA?(No freshmen and senior GPA)
Purdue: safety(if you can pay) or low match
UIUC: match
Gtech:match

@paul2752 4.13

uncapped or capped?

@sunofgod908 So first off, you’re applying to a lot of engineering schools, but those schools won’t be happy with the low grades you got in your sciences courses. Also, a lot of these schools want a well rounded student (VERY important for Cornell, MIT, Carnegie Mellon, Berkley) and they might question your deficient English performance year after year. From your comment above it seems your English isn’t too too bad, buuutt it might be an issue. But let’s get down brass tacks. You have a low GPA. We all know it. Weighted and unweighted, it lacks that “star quality”. I know you hope to make it up with interesting ECs…but you’re not the Slumdog Millionaire. Best of luck, I hope admissions value ECs more than grades, and you’ll have a chance.

I think your course rigor makes up for the average GPA.

Just my 2 cents…

MIT : high reach
Berkeley/Cornell: reach
Carnegie Mellon: low reach
GATech/Mich/UCLA: high match
UIUC: match
Purdue: low match

How did you jump from alg 2 in 9th grade to multivari in 10th?

Chances:

Massachusetts Institute of Technology REACH
Carnegie Mellon University reach for cs, otherwise low reach
University of California at Berkeley low reach
Cornell University reach
Georgia Institute of Technology high match
University of Michigan at Ann Arbor low reach
University of California at Los Angeles high match
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign match
Purdue University safety

^ i completely second ur post. OP, how did u manage to skip from 9th grade level math to 2nd year college math? thats a huge leap. youre in for uiuc and purdue. ucla, u mich, gatech, and ucb are high matches. cornell is low reach, the rest are reaches. i think u have good EC’s and have a lot of rigour in ur course schedule. also it seems that A-'s are counted as 3.7’s in ur school, cause ur grades dont look too bad however u still have a 3.7 gpa. write a good essay, and u have a really good shot.

@finallyfree‌ @qpqpqp‌ I selfstudied AP Calculus AB in freshman year and got a 5 on the AP Exam so I was eligible to move to multivar calc.
@paul2752‌ What does that mean?

@sonofgod908‌ wait, so r u a genius or something? how did u get a 5 on calc AB in freshman year. i tried cramming calc AB down the 2 days prior to AP test day in junior year and got a 3 (but i prolly should have started studying more than 2 days before the exam).

how long did u study for the calc AB exam?

@finallyfree‌ I started studying in October-ish all the way up to the AP Exam.

Well, everyone already said this but in my opinion:
MIT: High reach (this is for basically every applicant)
UCLA UCI UCB:
You have a 3.7 GPA? If your school calculates A- as 3.7 and A+ as 4.3, then I’m not exactly sure how that system works and how UC’s look at that.
But on a 4 scale, 3.7 is a bit low. I still think you have a very good shot at all the UC’s but CS is extremely competitive, and it will be very tough to get in with a 3.7 GPA, but honestly with good essays I think you should be able to get in as you have basically taken a higher math than 95% of applicants out there and have good EC’s.

As for the other colleges, UMich is about the same as the UC’s, but the other colleges I have no idea.

Also, how is your weighted GPA only 4.18? It seems that you have taken several AP classes and gotten A’s in most of them? Are your AP’s on a 5.0 scale?

@rdeng2614‌ @finallyfree‌ In my school, there are no A+'s, A’s are 4.0, A-'s are 3.7, B+'s are 3.3, B’s are 3.0 Honors courses have 0.5 extra weightage and AP Courses have 1.0 extra weightage.

Oh I see. Do you know how your grades compare to your peers? UC’s look at that pretty heavily.

@rdeng2614‌ I don’t know how my grades exactly compare to my peers but my schedule is INSANELY rigorous compared to others, especially in math.

MIT: Reach, as it is for all
UIUC: match
CMU: high match
Cornell: low reach
UCLA: high match
UCB: high match/low reach, I need your UC gpa
purdue: you are in
