What are the courses that are offered in MIT but not in Wellesley? Can any of the Wellesley girls take classes in MIT or there are special requirements? Thanks!

There's a lot that MIT offers that Wellesley does not, simply because there are 2300 Wellesley students and 4000 MIT undergrads plus 6000 grad students. At MIT, you have access to graduate classes, architecture courses, engineering as well as more specialized science courses.

You can take anything that you have the prerequisite for (or at least the Wellesley equivalent). You usually email the prof about adding the class and show up on the first day. Certain classes are lotteried and you will have to follow special rules for those.

Some people will do math, econ or management, others will take courses at MIT because it allows them to fulfill a required course in a semester where something isn't offered at Wellesley.

You will get credit for most things, how much depends on how many "hours" the MIT course is worth. Whether the course fulfills a requirement is up to deans/department.

The Wellesley Registrar page has a lot of the nuts and bolts of cross registration. There is also a list of "expert" profs, frequently MIT alums from certain departments who can give recommendations on each.

You can take MIT classes after your first semester.

Thank you so much! Do you know anything about the history department at Wellesley?

Hey Wendy, do you know anything about the psychology courses at MIT? I don't want to take courses at MIT just because I can, but some of my friends at MIT have been telling me that the psych courses there aren't that bad and think I should take one in the future.

I'm afraid I don't know the first thing about Psych at MIT, except that Harvard stole Steven Pinker several years back, but that's cog sci (though his book is a textbook for some class).
