Mit cpw

Just a question concerning CPW at MIT this year:
I am still considering MIT, though I'm considering Princeton over MIT at the moment. I still plan to go to CPW, however, just to visit (never been there), find out more about MIT, meet some friends, and have fun. I plan to apply for the CPW fly-in program for a travel grant. After attending CPW, and decide to attend another university, do I just send MIT an email? I won't be asked to sign an official intent to enroll at CPW would I?

“I won’t be asked to sign an official intent to enroll at CPW would I?”

Don’t worry, you won’t:) At least that’s what I thought…

HAHAHA

I’m just trying to imagine MIT forcing people to sign intent forms before they let them leave to catch their planes back home.

What happened last year (and will probably happen this year) was that your MyMIT account had a link in which you were to use to tell them whether you’re planning on attending MIT or not. I think you don’t need to reply until May 1st (correct me if I’m wrong), so plenty of people take their time after CPW to inform Admissions of their decision.

Is your image of CPW an MIT trap where they force you to sign documents under duress?

In any case, the answer is no. They’ll only make you sign a document indicating your intent to not enroll at any other college, and they’ll send that along. You have, of course, the end of the month to decide on MIT.

i talked to a girl enrolled at MIT on a recruiting visit who was ready to go to princeton but changed her mind to MIT after CPW. definetly go, the people there are a lot of fun, and pretty amazing. they may just change your mind.

I got my fin aid package today. together with it was a letter from Dean Schmill and it said that we have until May 3rd to decided whethere we want to enroll or not.

PUMPED FOR CPW!!!

There aren’t any forms to sign to accept your offer of admission at CPW. You may, however, find yourself in an Athena cluster enrolling anyway. I did.

I enrolled during CPW too :)

Just to clarify: you tell MIT where you want to go online on MyMIT by May 1. You can do this at CPW, but you certainly don’t have to. And there is no hard sell during CPW to get you to come.

But certainly do plan on coming - you can see how many people made up their mind because of CPW

tomjonesistheman,

I was admitted to both Princeton and MIT last year and went to CPW and then Princeton’s Admitted Students Weekend (Tiger Days? or something like that) the following weekend.

Experiencing both weekends was crucial in making my decision to enroll at MIT. Beyond the academics and city versus suburb issues, the actual gestalt of the campuses felt hugely different to me. After CPW, I knew MIT was exactly the right fit for me. Princeton is a great school as well, and ultimately neither will be a bad choice but going on an extended visit to both schools will really help you decide if one is a better fit for you than the other.

I thought it said May 2nd on MyMIT? I log in like everyday though, so I doubt I’d miss the deadline if I decide to go there.

MIT trumps Princeton :D

does it matter what time you arrive in boston for cpw? im most likely taking the earliest bus from my area to get there by 2pm ish on thursday. i would hate to get there and be told i was late. ( i cant drive, my parents are unable to come with me, and the 10am bus is the earliest option)

Don’t worry about it. There is very little of CPW that is ‘scheduled’, you just sort of do your own thing, go to events that seem interesting to you. There will be people showing up throughout Thursday, and even some on Friday and Saturday.

^^The full schedule should be up soon. As of yet, and following last year’s schedule, there are no “official MIT” events before the evening. There are fun events hosted by various organizations, dorms, frats, but none of the big stuff.

This is a more full schedule of CPW Thursday: [MIT CPW Thursday Schedule](http://web.mit.edu/admissions/cpw/thursday.html)

If you scroll down a bit on this page, you can see a schedule of the featured events, which I called “Official MIT” and “big stuff”: [MIT CPW - schedule](http://web.mit.edu/admissions/cpw/schedule.html)

2PMish should be fine :).

I’m with astrophysics dude on this one. MIT just felt right for me when I was trying to decide. The campuses are completely different. MIT is more a mix of industrial urban a la lab buildings with unique architecture and tons of trees and grass scattered in open spaces while Princeton has your British collegiate feel with soft rolling hills, grass everywhere, arches and castles for dorms. I distinctly remember seeing girls at Princeton laying down towels outside on the grass and sunbathing in shorts and bikini tops. At MIT, I saw guys walking around, wearing bras on top of their t-shirts, raising money for a summer camp. Even though I’d have to say that hands down no preview weekend will ever compare with CPW (you’ll see you when you get here) in the sheer amount of stuff going on, the two schools are different enough that by the end, I think you’ll be able to make the right choice for yourself :D

Best plan for CPW: don’t make one. Enjoy every moment and stock up on sleep before you get here/recover after you get home :)

Thanks for the help guys! I received a call from MIT, and they are paying my travel expense to go to CPW and Im most definitely going!

I cant wait to meet some of you.
