MIT DECISIONS Official Date - March 14, 1:59PM Eastern Time

When people are writing their SAT scores, are they superscoring?

^Maybe Jack Bauer can help us … :D

^W.T.H

Clearly MIT admissions is NOT based off of pure academic skills. Sheez, your stats is like the dream stats I’ve always wanted for myself…

Who in their right mind would reject you?

Godot, did you qualify for USAMO last year?

how many rickoids are rejected from mit? surely less than 10%…

*** you did rsi and got rejected still…are you sure you ain’t a ■■■■■, man?

I showed a bunch of my friends WaitingForGodot’s stats. They couldnt believe their eyes. Here’s what they guessed that could have prevented him from getting in:

1) He’s lying (its a form, why not lie?)
or
2) He’s had antisocial behavior problems/Bad character (though I doubt it) - This is they only reason that could have stopped him. Everything else is too perfect.

Can any MIT adcom explain why WaitingForGodot didn’t get in? Any guess? molliebatmit?

^WaitingForGodot (hmm fan of Beckett huh?)

I’m terribly sorry. You really must have worked hard in high school; you probably feel that you don’t deserve rejection, but stats aren’t everything. You truly are an amazingly talented student, so take some comfort in knowing that you’ve tried your best and there is nothing you can do now to change MIT’s mind.

That said, you can always come back in 4 years, like I am!!! There’s a second chance.

Admission is mythical somehow. We can’t anticipate what will happen.
@fiona: I can’t access that page. Anything wrong with that link?

@fiona: I did, but the link led to Home page :-?

Absolutely no one should expect to get into MIT. They reject more qualified applicants than they accept, the odds are always against everyone.

As for WaitingForGodot’s case in particular, who knows. I’ll tell you that the good scores mean almost nothing when applying to MIT - it means “You might have a chance”, like most applicants, because most do have the scores. Maybe his recs weren’t as good as he thought. His activities are all very strongly academically - perhaps the admissions office didn’t see any fire in his application. Or perhaps admissions thought he was absolutely amazing, and he was one of the thousands of absolutely amazing applicants they just couldn’t accept.

It happens. There’s no auto-admit to MIT.

I just find his rejection shocking seeing as how RSI itself is sponsored by MIT…

if you look at the fact that only 10% of applicants are admitted, there are clearly no automatic acceptances into mit (unless you have taken every ap - with all 5s, 2400 sat, and and an amazing athlete or actor/actress - then you maybe have it locked up…lol)

who is WaitingForGodot? what were his stats like?

(3) He got “jonesd”. “marileejonesd”

WaitingForGodot’s stats are here in the RD decisions thread.

He’s not lying about his stats. No bad character (he’s a friend
of my son who is generally an astute judge of character).

your son also goes to the same school?
