Forgive me for being a neophyte to the graduate school application process. I see that a number of invites have already gone out for MIT biosciences. Does anyone have any experience with MIT's system? Do they send them out simultaneously (it would seem quintessentially MIT-ish to determine everyone they want to interview and then have a computer email them all simultaneously and then be done with it), or in waves? How many rounds of interviews are there? Should I give up hope? Thanks

MIT has made all of its decisions already, it doesn't decide in waves. I don't know if they have notified everyone yet, although I would imagine that since they send out emails rather than call they probably have. If not, you would certainly hear by the middle of next week.

ec1234, what do you mean by "made all of its decisions".
Do you refer to only biosciences as concerning to ndufour
or all the programs?
I am an engineering student and application deadline for my
major is Jan 2. It seems a bit too fast for MIT to make
the decisions already considering the large volume of application
materials they have to handle.

Ni-SDC, I believe ec1234 is referring to the MIT Biology department. I'm at MIT right now and I can tell you with some certainty that none of the engineering programs have sent out decisions, except for some of the ones that they give to their own undergrads (which works differently for every department).

ymmit-

You're at MIT? Can you confirm ec1234's information? Are they done with the interview requests (MIT takes priority over other schools that I have to start scheduling). Thanks!

ndufour- I do believe ec1234 is correct, but I'll try to go by the MIT Biology office to check for you officially as soon as possible. I don't know if it will be open tomorrow due to the holiday, though. I'll get back to you.

I am at MIT, which is how I know that the admissions committee has released all of its decisions, and we got an email from the program coordinator saying that the emails would be out by last friday. I am only talking about MIT biology, however I think that CSBi and Microbiology have also released all of their interview requests, but I am less sure about that.

Do you happen to know about MIT BCS?

theory -

I haven't heard from MIT BCS yet. Please keep me posted if you hear anything.

i'm positive that MIT Micro has sent all of it's interview requests out. i also know that a friend of mine just heard back from CSB today, so it's not too late. does anyone know about Caltech Biophysics and Princeton Mol. Bio?

Haven't heard from BCS either and I have reason to believe that I should hear from them.

thanks for the replies guys...

Has anyone heard from MIT chemistry?

thanks to your replies, guys.

Did anyone do a pre-app interview with the intended dept or professor?

catsrus9- I'm a senior in MIT chemistry- what I've been hearing is that the process is far from over; faculty are still reviewing apps. Sit tight and good luck!

samarium, i heard from mit bcs yesterday by phone(voicemail) and email. they have one interview day on march 6. i hope you hear from them soon,if you havent already.gluck!

Congrats theory!

I think I may be setting up a fruit stand in Rejectionville. What topics are you looking to study?

one of my friends hear from mit today (chemE department) and was admitted.

samarium, i really hope you hear from them. im going to study perceptual processes most likely vision.and you?
