MIT EA Chances

So I applied Early Action to MIT, along with a few other colleges but I'm not worried about them, and it's getting close to time for the decisions to come out. I have a 34 ACT but my math was only a 29 with all other subjects being a 36 and English a 35, I have a 4.02 GPA and I am taking 3 AP classes this year but I have taken 6 overall along with many pre-AP. I am an active boxer, training for MMA, I have a job that I work around 20 hours a week at, I tutor kids in Pre-Cal and I work out regularly. I used to wrestle, I have participated in Relay for Life since 10th grade and I formed my own team last year (we raised over $500 and I was so happy!) and I have started to learn coding on my own. I'm also in National Honor Society, Math team (3 years, captain for 1) and Science Olympiad (2 Years). Oh and on my interview, I was talking to my EC for a little over two hours when interviews generally last an hour, and I feel it went well. Also, I should be receiving a Marine NROTC scholarship for the five colleges of my choice, as I'm going to do NROTC and I was the #1 seed for my state (official decisions are released Dec. 12). So what do you guys/gals think my chances are?

Oh, and I’m from Alabama, I’m not sure if that matters but I’ve heard from some people that it helps because we are one of the lowest ranked States in the nation for education.

Your scores + GPA are fine, but MIT really wants to see dedication to the field you’re applying to. You don’t seem to have any big awards or an internship or part of a selective summer program so I think your chances are low. Nonetheless, it’s a reach for everyone, so good luck.

MIT requires its students to have an outstanding math SAT and ACT score. I know for the SAT the average student got a 740 on math, not sure how that would apply. But over all, i think you’re good, so good luck!

Mid Reach

Competitive applicant… Math Scores are important though. Also, as BBANKS said, MIT wants to see dedication to a specific field.
