I hope you all remember not to put all of your eggs in one basket, either with regard to decisions being released on December 13, or with regard to being admitted on the date when decisions are released.

The decision date has not been announced, and isn't likely to be announced until the admissions officers have gotten partway through selection -- that is to say, sometime in early December.

And if past statistics are a guide, most of you will be deferred on decision day and will have to wait until mid-March for a definitive decision. It is not a good idea to count on being admitted to MIT -- in my opinion, it's not even good to have a far-and-away first choice out of all the colleges on your list until you see which ones admit you and which ones don't. It's fine to hope for the best and prepare for the worst, but please put more emphasis on the latter than on the former.

Hope for the best... prepare for the worst...

...and eagerly look forward to second semester. Once all (regular) college applications are in, there's nothing more you can do but wait. And then hope for the best and prepare for the worst yet again

ham- I'm definitely getting all of my RD apps in before December 13. As I said earlier, I have finals December 17, so I want to get my RD apps done before then.

I spoke, in person, with Matt McGann last night, and he said that, at this point, there is no way to tell what day they will be releasing decisions.

December 13 is not the confirmed decision date.

If its on December 13, I'll be at another school in my state during a Speech & Debate tournament, eating lunch at around noon. I don't think I could focus for the rest of the tournament if I got accepted.

You guys should relax. Stop worrying and go read a book or something (I recommend Oscar Wilde's plays). Or do some psets (since I assume most MIT applicants are math/science-oriented).

Though, I will probably be the same next year. :)

haha, calm down guys. I'm pretty anxious for it too, but I'm not going to lose sleep over the countdown. lol. Right now, i'm just focusing on my research and academics stuff which would help to take my mind off. So guys, go and play with stuff. lol.
