--MIT Early Action Countdown Thread--

Best of luck you guys!

-Yale SCEA'er

Thanks be_somebody. After getting rejected from caltech and deferred from u. chicago, I think need some major luck just to get a defer from mit. Good luck everyone!

Thanks :)

Ok so I just had the weirdest realization. and its completely superstitious. But it gives me a lil hope. So I'm blasting iTunes on party shuffle so that I won't freak out, and then I start wondering what will play when I find out my decision. I add up all the times and find out that the song "Roundabout" by YES will be playing. I'm a bit hopeful now, as I wasn't at all before. I hate being superstitious, so I won't be :P

^ haha adding up all the times must've taken up a while. Good way of killing some time...

good thing there are no bands with the name "NO" on my iPod haha

Does anybody know of any ways to kill time? I can't just sit here for 86 minutes and 30 seconds more... or can I?

Orisinal.com - Winterbells
More Games

I should really be studying for finals... ><

pandora.com -- listen to music =D

Good relaxing song:
YouTube - Trance - Shipwrecked (Remix)

i second reinalai's suggestion to play winterbells. That is a great game. What is ur high score? Lol mine is 5156652257770. Seriously!

Gah - I have a huge paper due in a few days and finals starting the day after tomorrow and this is all I can think about! 1 hour, 12 minutes, 55 seconds....

Edit: assuming the site holds up against 5,000 people mashing refresh every three seconds over the course of a minute or so.

Well, registered here to join in on the waiting/torture. Maybe I'll play some Gears 2 to pass the time?

haha, my high score is nowhere near that, that's pretty insane. I have a friend that played so much, according to him, his score overflowed and just went to zero, not sure if that's been proven or not, he might just be pulling my leg :P it's a very addicting game, and the bunny is adorable, not to mention indestructible :)

only a little over an hour now! almost there!

Man, you guys are making me nervous!

Everybody please take deep breaths and remember that you're still the same person whether you're accepted, rejected, or deferred tonight.

If you do get accepted, please handle your acceptance with grace -- it's okay to be excited, but remember that your excitement is the disappointment of a lot of other kids who are a lot like you. You can be thrilled, over the moon, and on top of the world, but be classy about it.

If you're deferred, remember that deferral at MIT is a second chance to showcase the strengths of your application, and that you won't be disadvantaged in any way during the regular round. Remember that as an EA applicant, you're just as likely to get in during RD, given historical trends, as you are EA. It sucks to be in limbo for another three months, but try not to let your immediate hurt feelings turn into rash actions.

If you're rejected, you have my most heartfelt sympathy, and I hope you'll find another fabulous school to grace with your fantastic presence for four awesome years. This may feel like a tragedy right now, but you'll make it through. And if you want to tell us that you're coming to MIT for grad school or that you're going to make some amazing discovery that will make MIT rue the day they rejected you -- that's okay too.

Good luck to all of you. I hope this will be a good night for many.

ONE HOUR TO GO!!!!

Good luck to everyone!

lol, i've been listening to david cook's "time of my life" just make this process easier

I'm so freaking nervous!! I know I shouldn't be, and there's nothing I can do at this point, but..ahhh!! I am sitting in a freeeezing Stop and Shop cafe (no power/internet at my house; silly ice storm) with a really shoddy internet connection. This stinks! I just want it to be over with.

^^ yikes. at least I'm in the comfort of my own home.

I'm watching family guy....only 43 minutes of torture to go!
