--MIT Early Action Countdown Thread--

I think we should just be happy we are done and got all of our stuff in!

This is probably a rookie question, but how exactly do decisions come out? Do you access them through your online application or are they emailed to you? Just wonderin'

Neither -- in past years, there's been a separate website set up that you can log into. The decisions will also be mailed, so you can choose to wait for the mail.

decisions.mit.edu is where they will be posted.

right now the site redirects to mitadmissions.org, but it will be up around decision time.

seriously guys, there is no point in being anxious or excited or what not. MIT is tough to get into, so stop stressing. If we get in, we're lucky. If not, its MIT and they had people they felt were a better fit. We all got our stuff in, so all we can do now is focus on whatever else we have to do during our senior year.

I'm studying for the National Bio Olympiad and taking EPGY Math courses (Multivar. Calculus, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations) in the meantime to help take my mind off of the wait. Then when you add in all of the other things I'm involved with (Marching & Jazz Band, A Capella, Mock Trial, Science Bowl, SAC/Stu-Co, Writing/Composing our Class Musical) into the mix, all the more I don't have to think about waiting. Thank God....I'd probably lose my mind as a result of the suspense....haha

I think everyone deserves to be excited about it. I mean if there's any school worth being so anxious about, it's MIT (at least that's how I feel). Of course it shouldn't be all we think about or assume we're gonna get in or anything, but we can at least be a little on edge about it!

I guess I'm in a slightly different boat than you guys. I, too, am waiting on a decision from MIT on Dec. 13 (or around there). If I get in, great! I'll be thrilled. If I don't get in, I go to a cheaper school nearer to home, get a full ride scholarship, and have a funner college experience. Woohoo too!

haha. personally, waiting for my sat scores was much more stressful.

i'll check around dec. 15 i suppose. =]

I know how you feel denmam, I could go to a local university, and graduate with a bachelors within two years, and not have to pay a single dime (well, I might if I can't get a few hundred dollers in scholarships, but most would be already payed off)! (I'll have an associets when I leave higschool).

22 days, 17 hours, and 9 minutes (although that is not when decisions will actually come out)

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/21/ed...21college.html

EA Applications were up 25% since last year :(...

Well this sucks.

Ughh.....wonderful

20 days and 15 hrs. and that TOTALLY sucks.

18.5 days? Roughly the halfway mark!

Wait, they still haven't officially announced a date yet though right? I bet it'll be the 20th...

I think i might go crazy from anticipation lol.

I don't know if I'll even horribly mind being rejected now, as long as I finally know the truth. :S I mean, I'm up at 11PM with hours to go before I sleep, because I'm at CC, obsessing about college. :/

lilyrobin, they usually announce the date when they're most of the way through selection (around the end of the first week of December), so the fact that they haven't announced a date doesn't imply that it will be a later date.

But it wouldn't surprise me if the 20th were the date, since the number of applications is up by so much.

I would pretty much only be okay with the 20th if I ended up getting in :D

kidding...decisions are decisions, but it would be so, so nice to have them be earlier than later.
