--MIT Early Action Countdown Thread--

mollieb-yeah, that's why I was thinking the 20th (or at least later rather than sooner), because of the EA increase this year.

burnitblue-I know what you mean, I don't really care when it is if I get in, because I'll be too ecstatic about that, but the earlier the better!

I'm hoping it's not the 20th-I've got a hockey game very far away so I'll be gone pretty much the entire day. I wanna know as soon as it's possible to know! Even though I know a couple hours really won't make a difference.

ughghhghghggh omg im so anxious

I still think it could be the 13th. Although there are more applications, I remember seeing somewhere that they would notify us by the 15th.. since I don't have a link or anything this could be completely false though.

yeah centimeters, it says on collegeboard and such that they will notify us by the 15th.

so you're not crazy! mazel tov!

burnitblue is correct. i put money on the 13th.

mazel tov indeed! :) december anything-teenth is still gonna take an eternity to get here lol

so what is it now..exactly 3 weeks?

if it's before the 15th, it's around two weeks.

noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

ugh I can't wait!!!! no I'm going crazy...if I get in I will be the happiest ever and deck myself out in MIT gear...if not, then I'll be depressed until April to see if I get in then haha

^^that guy is even optimistic for a deferral... lol...

Chances of me making it in: 0 lol

My mind is processed in that way now lol...

Man i wonder what i can do to get myself stood out.. i think im gonna storm into the admissions office and hold a presentation about myself... that should be unique enough no?

How about moonwalking back and forth in front of their admissions office all day long until they come out and ask you your name? =)

^^I think they want Non-Teenage activities... moonwalking lmao would make them be like "what a teenager"... Mike Moyer Dean of Enrollment at UChicago and his book is toooo goood...

Honestly? I have no chance here and I know it. Applying for fun =)

I'd have to disagree with you there Ambitiousteen :P

I think they care a lot more about personality than "professionalism." Anyone can put on a suit and throw together a powerpoint presentation...

Not everyone has the drive to moonwalk for 36 hours straight!!! =D

yeah ambitiousteen, my new goal in life is to calculate my chances of getting into MIT or Harvard so I can cross register at MIT :P

Yeah, so I just looked back at my essays/app, which I promised myself I wouldn't do, but I realized that they were NOT as good as I thought they were. This sucks and now I'm SURE I have no chance.

Thats exactly why i wont look at my essays either
i think theyre awesome, but im afraid that they actually suck too.

look at this way: you're stuck in the same boat as all of us, and theres nothing you can do :)

centimeters-don't worry about it! I felt that way about it at one point too, but I'm thinking about it like this; you really wanna get into MIT, right? So you wanted to do a good job on your application/essays. When you were finally ready to press submit, they were there and they were good enough. If they REALLY had sucked, I think you would have known it at the time, and not pressed submit/kept working. Going back now, it's just easy to criticize everything and realize we could have done something better, but honestly, I bet it's not nearly as bad as you think.

man...I shouldn't be around here with fellow applicants...it just makes me want to go to school with you!

Tomorrow it will be 11 days, not counting tomorrow (I'm a forward thinker).
