MIT Early Action for Fall 2023 Admission

Is this a private school? Or a school that pays for the tests? It seems unfair otherwise, and a barrier to anyone with financial constraints from taking the most rigorous classes.

Same: all AP scores on the transcript: take the test or lose the GPA bump and the listing as an AP course Yes they have fee reduction or waiver if the student is on financial aid for the school.

You might be selected for verification if you didn’t use the IRS data retrieval tool. You just link that to the app and you’ll be good to go I think. Or you might have to send them your tax returns from the most recent filing.

Did you complete a CSS profile followed by the IDOC info? This provides them with all the necessary financial info. If you did complete them then there is something in there that requires them to gather more information.

@DickWhitman, @divarose yeah I guess I need to complete CSS profile, tax returns amongst other things.

My kid is in a public school and they require the test and we pay for it.

Our public school requires the AP exam too. Testing costs are waived for students who qualify for free/reduced lunch. Financial assistance from a donor funded account is available for everyone else.

Can we move on from individual HS AP policies and return the focus to MIT please

I think your son is OK on this, so it makes sense that checking “yes” you took the AP exam would cause them to expect the score as they did request applicants to include all scores. Forgetting to include a score or two is a forgiveable error and probably happens a lot.

If on the other hand, a student lied and said they didn’t take the AP test in order to hide a low score, that tactic could potentially succeed but is probably highly detrimental to the students’ chances if discovered. The best thing to do is to just report all AP scores as MIT asks applicants to do.

Does anyone know the current overflow pool of interviews? I got mine waived.

How do you know if it was waived? You get any update on your status page?

My son hasn’t heard from EC yet; and he was told by admissions that it won’t affect his chances; but no indication that it was ‘waived’

Can folks please share their statistics?

Hi! Does anyone know when MIT will release their EA decisions? I think their website just said mid-December but getting nervous.

MIT knows, but they have not said publicly

Someone on another site was apparently told Dec 17 by a coach

It was Dec 18th last year (3rd Saturday) so Dec 17th this year sounds about right to me.

For MIT - I am sorry to say, I dont believe so. But I am expecting the EA pool at MIT will be smaller this year. Hopefully 20+% - so we will have to see.

Not sure if your SAT is a 1530 or 1540., But to have a foot in the door - MIT required 1570.

Your leadership ECs are great.
Your other ECs are great.
Your stats are great.
Your SAT is tough.
I am also hoping you got an exceptional recommendation from your Dentist. This will add tremendous value.

Good luck!
