" … Stress is a natural part of college life, but some students at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology say it can seem overwhelming at the elite school teeming with overachievers who are strangers to failure." …
I am relieved that MIT took some action to alleviate the stress of overwhelmed students, but couldn’t they have done this sooner before these kids took their lives? College kids,no matter where they attend, get stressed and often lose perspective, feeling alone and isolated. But not everyone has a support that lends perspective that life is worth more than a college gpa, or that ‘failure’ is not the end of the world. I wish that colleges would send this message to all their students and faculty periodically. I also think suicide is a topic that needs to be asked about when kids are looking at colleges. It’s a topic that needs to be more transparent, for the good of all.
