And lots of spam, too. I mean, the spamscreen works fine, but we do get a lot of spam.

Gmail has amazing spam filtering, as im' sure you all know.

im sure this has been asked before, but when do we MIT'10ers get instructions to sign up for an account? =P

You'll be sent information in early June -- I think it's in what Matt calls the "next big mailing" (NBM), so watch his blog for hints.

cool, thanks!

i guess college facebook has to wait =P

Haha, I was going to add "I KNOW you all just want facebook" but I thought maybe I was making too many assumptions. :)

yep, you need to have an email ___@mit.edu to join the facebook! .....can't wait to have one!

^can we "upgrade" our HS facebook to college?

No, you can't.

You gotta reinvite all your friends.

But, yes, it's facebook we all want.

nah they changed it like jus recently... go to ur "my account " and "network" settings. u can switch it over now i think =]

I received my big package today!!!

I registered (today at 2:30 pm) a Kerberos username and a password, waiting for its activation. My question is: when I start log in to my MIT email? Where's the log in page for MIT email?

http://webmail.mit.edu

I'm not sure how long it takes to activate the email account; a friend of mine who's starting a biology PhD was able to log in the same day he registered.

I just log in to my email!

I used to use Hotmail/Yahoo. You know, you edit different color and symbols (like :) ;) :( ). I just wonder where can I do this in my MIT email?

also, how do you create link in the message without showing the actual address? How do you change the font and the type of words? I do you insert pictures in your message?

A current student informs me that there is a very good source of information for all-things-email at this URL:

web.mit.edu/ist/topics/email

That student also suggests you use the instructions there to learn to use a mail client other than webmail.

MIT2010-

Were you able to login instantly??

I created my account around 6:00 PM, and I was advised to log in tomorrow!! Have I done something wrong??

I created mine in 2:30 pm (did not work instatntly), took a nap, woke up at 4:30 pm, and it worked!

My login took about 30 minutes to become active.
