Is there any limit in the password number of characters? I think I set onetoo large (+30) and now I have problems to log in. I am trying to change my password at https://wserv.mit.edu/fcgi-bin/cpw but it keeps saying my password is incorrect. Any ideas? How can we reset our passwords? Help please, I would not like to wait till fall to visit IST and reset my password

Did you use any extended ascii characters? Are you using Kerberos or SSL?

If you really need to change your password, you can try this:
download PuTTY from http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html and connect to athena.dialup.mit.edu , then use your username and password to login. Once you're in, type 'passwd' and it will allow you to change your password.

You can also connect to Athena through your web browser, http://athena.dialup.mit.edu/ssh.html, or using SecureCRT, http://web.mit.edu/software/win.html.

Thank you vey much for your help. I changed my password successfully.

i set up my mit email a month ago and have sent several messages via webmail. i try to search for the messages i sent but found nothing in my "webmail-sent" folder; anybody knows how to save each messages i sent through webmail?

You have to click the checkbox that says "Save a copy in <foldername>" -- it's the first checkbox under the to/from stuff.</foldername>

If you want to save your sent emails, you could also consider downloading one of the email programs from the MIT software distribution page. Thunderbird is good.
