MIT Essay: Significant Challenge

Hey guys! So I’ve completed writing drafts of all my essays but I am unsure about my significant challenge one.

I wrote about a 9th grade statewide engineering competition where our team’s coach never showed up to the competition and how I had to step up and lead/guide the team to a third place victory. Does that sound too pretentious? I also don’t have a lesson learned to end the essay. I can say its the first time I had to step up and lead or learned the power of teamwork, etc, but I feel that would sound too pretentious.

If anyone is willing to read it I will be glad to share over PM. I’ll also read your essay in return if you do.

That sounds like a great essay topic, especially since it shows your leadership qualities! Don’t worry about sounding pretentious; how else are schools going to get to know how awesome you are? If you still need someone to read it I am willing :slight_smile: (I was admitted EA so no need to return the favor).
