^ so I think I should send email to sfs@mit.edu to ask about that. Thank a lot

Hey Mollie, is there anyway to let MIT know that I haven’t seen all the material tested in SATIIs yet in school (I’m an international student), to explain a grade in the low 700s, without sounding like a annoying whiner ?

Hi, I was deferred from EA and wanted to submit an abstract for a research paper. However, it is too long to put into the end of the midyear report along with other updates. Is it fine if I fax it with the supplemental document cover sheet even though the cover sheet says everything must be postmarked by January 1?

Thanks!

Hey guys,
I have applied to MIT under the Regular Action program and my tracker still indicates that the scores have not been received yet. Should I worry? Thanks!

Wait…Not for long though…I got mine 4 days after I sent it:)

Hi Mollie,
I’m a class of 2017 RD applicant. I received an email asking for mid year report and I submitted with what I have for the first term. I didn’t put in anything about my multivariable calc class through a university online program which grade comes out at late march. I read MIT admission blog later on and it says we could just right ‘online, pass’ in such situation. While I think it won’t make a big difference because I’ve included the online course on senior coure load, I would appreciate any advice for such situation.
Thanks in advance!

Hi Mollie B. My son already submitted his midyear report last week and today was notified that he is NMFinalist. Can he just simply email this news to Admissions with name, dob and ID #?

Just explain it in a sentence or two, and don’t elaborate too much. They would like to know this information, but you don’t need to over-justify.

Yes, this is fine.

I thought I had heard that MIT has begun to send emails to students who are missing application components. If you haven’t received such an email (and you might want to trawl your spam folder just in case), it might be worth checking in with the admissions office via telephone.

If you’ve written elsewhere in the report (or in your application) that you’re taking the course, I don’t think there’s anything else you need to do.

Yes, indeed!

Mollie, it’s not too late if I fax my supplementary materials now right?

Thanks Mollie! Could you also kindly answer my two questions below?

1) I sent a supplementary material on the 30th Jan. Is that fine? Earlier versions of the MIT FAQs indicate that supp. materials need to be submitted before 1st Feb. Is that still valid?

2) I am a Chinese citizen residing in Singapore. So, which pool would I be considered in - the country of my citizenship, my country of permanent residence or the location of my high school? Thanks Really appreciate your help.

If you want to send anything, it should be sent right away. The admissions officers typically go into selection committee around Valentine’s Day, so I would assume they’ll start selection around the end of this week or beginning of next week.

Feb 1 is just my guideline (because, as I said above, the admissions officers tend to go into selection committee around Feb 15). Sending your materials on January 30 is fine.

My understanding is that you would be considered on the basis of your citizenship.

Hey! Mollie If I do have something (important) more to convey to admissions, how do I reach them…Just email?? Thanks:)

Fax, preferably. Email, phone call, and snail mail are also possibilities.

Does MIT send likely letters?

@ccuser95.

No they do not send likely letters.
I remember reading somewhere their explanation along the lines of
They admit about 2 weeks earlier than most other schools and they make the final decision in committee looking at all the finalists.

Hi Mollie, I just received notification of National Merit Scholarship finalist. Should I send admission this update? thanks!

Hi Mollie,
I know that MIT puts an emphasis on how crucial interviews are in MIT admission. I’ve read a post on MIT admission blog stating almost all MIT undergrad students, about 99% of them had interviews with alumni. I haven’t gotten any interview request and my account in MyMIT shows interview requirement is not filled. I’m wondering, is it okay for my application to be finished without an interview if an interview wasn’t granted? I heard MIT Adcom conducts skype interviews for those who live in areas where there aren’t any available alumni. I’m an international applicant from Canada and I would appreciate an answer. Thanks.

Hey Mollie!!
People in distant places were contacted for an interview in MY area…but I wasn’t called…
Could this mean rejection(or the sorts)…O.o

That’s strange, I had my interview a whole month before I applied…
I had to contact my interviewer (her contact info was on my myMIT account)…
