Thanks for the answer! It was a very interesting blog entry. It is nice that you take time to answer all of our questions.

Hi molliebatmit,

Thanks for answering our questions. This weekend, I participated in a national science competition and I think I probably made top 20 or 25 out of 47 kids from around the USA. Does this sound as a “major award”, and if so, is there any way I could ask the admissions committee to take a look at it if it has the potential to change my decision (even though it’s fairly late in the process)?

Also, I remember reading somewhere on the MIT blogs or maybe here on MITChris’s posts, but it stated that decisions are continuously made until hours before the decision release. Is this true?

Once again, thanks for your help!

You can certainly send an email updating the admissions office, and it’s true that decisions aren’t finally final until just before they are released. But it’s my opinion that sending information this late in the process is unlikely to change anything.

Decisions are released next Thursday! #sonervous

I think some people said a different day! But anyway, I 'm eager to know if I get admitted to MIT

^March 14 6:28PM EST → Decisions time!!

@molliebatmit - I’m an international applicant, and I just sent an (incredibly last minute) update email to the admissions@mit and mitintl@mit addresses. I know the message probably won’t be considered, but would it stand a better chance of being read if faxed and/or sent to an admission’s officers personal account?

-bot.

It won’t change anything, it’s too late !

I was waitlisted!
I really want to attend MIT, so I’ll wait (even though I know the chances :/)

@Oahm95 just make sure you accept an offer at another college by May 1st!

I’ll do! Thanks! I’ll wait for other universities’ responses… However, I don’t know how to feel! I am an international student and the whole admission process was very hard for me, and despite all of the effort I made, I was not good enough for MIT.
lol But I will continue doing my best and if I had the chance to attend MIT, MIT won’t regret it since my final objective is to serve and help people in my country. MIT is still my first choice! I hope everything went fine for the rest of you guys!

Don’t think of it as not being good enough for MIT. There are lots of people who are good enough who just can’t fit, and that is doubly true for internationals :frowning: But in the end it will hardly matter. With passion and drive you will do great things anywhere!

Yeah! You are right! :)

Hi everyone,I am a 9th grade international student who is considering apply for MIT.I am not sure about which materials should be prepare.Could you please helping me to check whether I have known all the things that I should prepare? Here’s the list:
SAT II (any two subjects from physics, chemistry or biology)
TOEFL iBT
AP 4/5 (How many subjects should I choose?)
High GPA in school (What should I do if school does not calculate GPA?)
I do not need to prepare SAT I and ACT as MIT provides two options to apply for, right?I am not sure.
If my english make any miseunderstanding, please forgive me for my weak english.

I think the TOEFL can take the place of SAT I/ACT for international students. Your SAT IIs need to be one math test (Math I or Math II) and one science (physics, chemistry, or bio). APs, take as many as you want – an emphasis in math and science is encouraged.

Thank you so much!

I finally got in gear and made a new thread for this year. Please take questions to that thread instead. :)
