MIT grad after only 2 yrs of college?

I have a friend who's currently attending a state university due to financial reasons, and for those same financial reasons he can only afford 2 years of college (his scholarships run out then, and he doesn't qualify for aid). He is able to graduate next year, and likely by then coauthored a research paper. He hopes to go to MIT for computer science.

Do grad schools, especially MIT, look unfavorably on these situations? Two years of college doesn't give you a chance to do a lot. I know very, very little about grad school matters, though I've read a little here and there and research seems to help.

Thank you in advance.

Your friend should be talking with faculty at MIT's Comp Sci department and get their opinion on his preparation. As well as his current school (he might be able to get a full ride there) and other top CS programs. If he can do the work, I think they won't care if he completed his undergrad in 2 years vs 4. Two classmates of mine completed their undergrads in 2 years and stayed on for grad school but the process was likely easier because they were both well-known in their respective departments.

Thank you! This sounds like a good idea; I'll pass it on to him :]
