MIT graduate admissions for adult student

I wish to know if MIT considers applications from Adults (with 20+ years work experience) for graduate studies. Does anyone know of an adult (50+ years old) who has succeeded gaining admission to MIT to study for a graduate degree.

I have an undergraduate degree in Computer Science from a US university circa 1988 and over 20 years experience in IT and software development.

I wish to study at MIT or Stanford, for a Masters degree in Computer Science and continue to the Ph.D.

I believe they do, but it’s fairly unusual, so it’s unlikely you’ll run into someone here who has done it. I suggest you contact the departments directly. Depending on what you have been doing, though, it may be difficult to get the necessary references (I think MIT wants at least one from a professor) and provide evidence that you can do research. An alternate approach would be to get a research-based masters degree at another school and then get the PhD at MIT or Stanford.
