MIT/Harvard Transfer Admission

Hi everybody! I want to apply to Harvard & MIT as a transfer student next year. I know transfer admission rate is very low for both of these schools, but does anyone know what's acceptable university/college GPA range for Harvard & MIT?

3.8-4.0 for any real chance. Good Luck.

To have a competitive GPA (this could be anywhere from 3.5-4.0) is a given for these Ivy’s.

Honestly, to get into these schools you will need to present something to their admissions that will blow their minds. And I mean blow their minds.

If 20-30 kids make it into these schools as transfers you have to consider that 1/3 of them are legacies and/or daddy is paying big bucks to get them in at the transfer level. The other 2/3 are among the most extraordinary students on the planet. You will be competing with transfer applicants with novel inventions, national and/or international awards, successful entrepreneurs, and near-genius students that didn’t apply or get in after high school.

I am not saying these things to discourage you. But truthfully, you will need to make your essay stand out with something truly amazing. Harvard is the most selective school in the nation (and even more so for transfers). Write something about your past experiences that will make them look twice at your application.

Good luck.

P.S. If you don’t have something that you feel will blow them away, just save the $70. Use it to apply to another top 20 ranked school (where you’ll have a better chance.)

P.P.S. You can refer to collegeboard.com, do a search by schools, and click the small “admissions” square once you have a school pulled up. Scroll down and you can see their acceptance rates.

P.P.P.S. Last year MIT accepted 3.92% of transfer applicants and Harvard took in 2.12%; for Harvard, the top 15% of the application pool was probably full of students with the qualities I mentioned above.

Hi,
i am planning to apply for junior year (next year). do i still need to submit my SAT score? I heard that if anyone applies as a transfer for junior level they don’t need to submit their SAT score.
