MIT has best '09 class than all other colleges

it seems to me that mit has the best '09 class in the world
if u look at the ppl going there, its crazy! IMO ppl, USABO, USAMO, INTEL, ISEF, STS, etc...plus a bunch of others....
MIT '09 seems to have slaughtered Harvard, Yale, and Princeton '09 like lambs in springtime.

I hope you have a flame retardant suit.

Yeah, what are all of those awards/accomplishments that you listed? Science and Math! Of course it's going to have the best science and math students because it is arguably the best technical school in the world.

But last time I checked there are many important areas in the world besides science and math. I guarantee that MIT wouldn't fare as well in those disciplines. In fact, there are a few universities that are better overall (Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Stanford) because MIT lacks the humanities and social sciences strength that the four aforementioned universities offer.

When's the last time an MIT grad was president?

... of the National Academy of Sciences? Why, recently.

I like how the thread title is "MIT has best '09 class than all other colleges," because "best" is a superlative, not a comparative... It should be "MIT has better '09 class than all other colleges," or "MIT has best '09 class".

LOL. Learn grammar! ;)

-An engineer who didn't go to MIT

go amy!

LMAO omg that was...wow

LOL I love it.

Mmm...not exactly. MIT didn't take all the top kids. Check out the USAToday 2005 High School Academic All-Stars:

http://www.usatoday.com/news/education/2005-05-12-first-team-hs-academic_x.htm

Final Score:

Harvard - 7
Yale - 2
Princeton - 2
Stanford - 2
Caltech - 2

Among schools getting at least one, MIT tied for last with Embry-Riddle, Davidson, and a few other schools with one each.

Hehe this is a funny thread.

3 of the smartest ppl i know got rejected from MIT ( 1500 SAT, 4.0 unweighted gpa, and athletes on the tennis and golf teams with a ****load of EC's) They r all ont there way to Duke or Virginia tech next year.

Dam MIT

My friend got in with a 3.8 and an 1100 on the SAT!

I KNOW SOMEONE ON THAT LIST, he goes to my school, how incredible is that...

That's a common misconception that is simply not true. MIT social sciences are excellent, and its business school (both grad and undergrad) is top-notch. The difference is fewer students there choose to go down those paths.

bananainpyjamas is right; while MIT's fame stems from the hard sciences, its other fields are elite as well.

hey, caltech slaughters MIT in science

kthanksbye

physics, yes. Econ, Engineering, and the social sciences are squarely in MIT's corner when comparing the two.

Lists of students like that make me feel "less than"

albertfermat1 is happy to see the flame he intentionally set out keep growing. i am not gonna comment on MIT to feed this immature kid.
