Does MIT track interest?

For some reason, I would expect an Ivy League to track interest a lot more than MIT.

But I dont know why i feel that way...

I'm just curious.

No, MIT does not track interest.

88keys, your intuition is entirely backwards.

Most ivy's and other top schools (Stanford, MIT, etc) don't track interest. They know that if they decide to admit you that you're going to give it serious consideration even if you hadn't before. In the university world it's the schools that are striving to claw their way up the rankings (and don't want to be the "safety" for someone applying to a top school) that really care; the Tufts, WUSTL's, etc. of the world. LACs usually track interest as well, but that's because they're so small that every student really counts.
