** MIT International Applicants' Thread 2017 **

I don’t know, you’re also the only one I know.
In which city do you live?

If I recall correctly, there was another applicant from Marocco earlier in this thread

Still 3 applicants is not a lot.
I guess most internationals are from india/china/korea?

I don’t know about Stanford, but MIT does not.

Hey guys, another MIT 2017 RD international applicant from the UK here. Didn’t realise there was an international thread! I’m actually Korean but I’m studying in the UK.

I don’t have any IMO medals (I wish) but I have research experience and participated in an International Maths Camp last summer (with loads of IMO participants from all over the world- it was funny how every time I talked to someone new they would almost immediately ask me if I went to any IMOs…)

MIT used to be my dream school when I was younger but now I’m not that keen… I think it’s a pretty awesome place but as a prospective maths major, I heard that maths isn’t really a serious major at MIT (I heard this from one of my closest friends who’s currently a freshman at MIT).

I thankfully have 2 great unis in the bag (CalTech EA and Cambridge) so I’m just waiting on Stanford, Harvard , MIT and Princeton. At the moment I kind of want to go to a college where I still have he option to study other subjects (Harvard/Stanford/Princeton), but that might not happen :P

You already have great schools in your bag. So there is no need to worry or panic about anything else. Wish I were you.:D

haha thanks  yeah I don’t know. I might change my mind later. I’m gonna see where I get in and decide carefully after I visit the unis again…

HEY^^ I wouldn’t say that they aren’t inclined to math…their decisions come out on 3.14.2013pi day…

@molliebatmit- Thank you! I’ve already sent MIT my midyear report. How do I inform them of any updates like new awards or achievements? Would it be best to email the admissions office?

Hey Mollie!!!,
in which email id do I send them my midyear grades…It just came today:)

Email is fine, but it’s getting very late in the process – the admissions committee has likely already been in selection for 10 days to two weeks, and they will likely be releasing decisions about two weeks from now. If you send an update now, there is no guarantee that it will be considered.

You should contact the admissions office to see what they want you to do – the midyear report was available through MyMIT, but I’m not sure if it is still available post-Feb 15.

Country: Singapore
Intended Course : Course 2A
Number of applicants you know from your country : 3

The only hook I can think of are my 2 published research papers and my provisionally filed patent :-)

Thanks mollie…they said that they put it into My application file…
and so…our decisions have already been made???

Thanks a lot, molliebatmit!
Oops! I guess I made an error while I submitted my Midyear report to MIT. I have put my Chemistry score as 56/50 instead of 56/60. Is it too late for me to correct? Will the admission officers hold this against me?
I, however, have submitted a transcript of my previous year’s annual report in which the Chemistry is scored out of a 60. (Even Physics is scored out of a total of 60, but I didn’t make any error as far as Physics is concerned.)
Please help.

Eh, I’ve sent the admission’s office an email regarding the correction. Feeling relieved now! :D

The MIT admissions office seems much nicer than that of any other university!

No, they’re in the process of being made.

decisions.mit.edu is down (it wasn’t yesterday!). They are probably updating their database. Now I’m getting very excited!

are decisions released on 3/14 for sure?

^ yup (10 characters long)
