Does anyone know if MIT will use their waitlist for international students? Anyone received contact yet?

I have a friend in China got waitlist… I think he just gave up waiting and chose to go to another school…
Also, I would say, there is really a very very small chance to get off waitlist from MIT, especially you are international.

There isn’t a separate international waitlist, though they can’t admit international off of the waitlist if it’d put them over the international quota. But yes, the chance is very, very small. Also, it does happen.

signed, international waitlist admit '14

From what I seem to gather, yield rate for internationals are significantly higher than domestic. MIT accepted around 140 internationals this year, so we’ll have to wait and see how many declines.

I heard that atleast 20 declined! Thats good news but not the best because they will only accept around 100ish international students :(

Check this out though: This harvard girl is good :

MIT accepted “a little over 100” international applicants this year (out of ~4000 who applied).

However, there have been cases where int’l waitlistees got in. One wait-listed international from Taiwan got in on May 10. =D
