MIT Interview

Would anyone like to share their experiences regarding MIT interview ?

Sure! I had mine yesterday. I was so nervous, I didn’t eat lunch for fear of puking all over her and I almost fell over in the Starbucks line because my legs were shaking so much (first interview). But once we got talking, I relaxed so much. I even made her laugh a few times. She said the interview would be an hour, and even brought a watch to time things out, but we still went about 20 minutes over.

My interviewer was really sweet. I gave her my resume, and she basically just looked it over and asked me about my most important activities, how these activities related to my interests, etc (note: not all ECs do it this way, but do bring a resume). We got a bit lost in the conversation, and suddenly she goes “Oh right, I haven’t asked you about MIT yet!” So I gave her my “Why MIT” response, and she seemed pretty happy with my insights about the school and motivations for attending. Then, at the end, she asked if I had any questions for her, and I asked about her favorite classes, what she learned, sororities, and what she did outside of class. I think it went pretty well.

Basically: reflect on what you’ve learned from all your experiences, how all your ECs have tied in to give you a bigger picture. I painted myself as the girl from a small school that’s had to step up and be a leader, and all of my ECs show leadership. Have good reasons for attending. My interviewer was so nice and easy to talk to. Good luck!

You are confusing me… you keep coming to the various forums asking people on essentially how to gain an advantage in the application process. Really the answers are already there for you, if you just do some searching.

Are you applying or are you doing a paper or ?

In short, write what you want to write on your essays… everybody’s answers should be uniquely their own. What you answer or ask in an interview, should be uniquely you.

There are no short cuts and it looks like you are trying to figure how how to magically be accepted to some of the top universities in the US/world.

Good luck.
