Guys I really need your help. I'm an italian student, but I didn't have an MIT interview. The interviewer offered me to have one via Skype. Is this the way the MIT treats its applicants? An interview via skype? I'm really disappointed by their way of conducting interviews.

Should I accept it? Is it so necessary? Is there no way I could have one after Jan 4?
I do not have skype (neither microphone, nor webcam), but I think I can manage to get the necessary material should I accept it.

MIT - thumbs down.
Please reply promptly, I need an answer in a couple of hours.

I’m not sure where the disdain comes from – many applicants aren’t able to have an interview, because no alum lives in their area, or because an alumni interviewer is not available, so it’s great to have an interview opportunity, even if it’s via the internet.

There is no way to have an interview after January 4, because the interviewer reports are due to MIT on January 6. Your interviewer is already interviewing you at a significantly late date – many interviewers will not interview anyone this late.

MIT doesn’t have alumni stationed at every corner of the earth - they try and offer those who can’t have in-person interviews an interview by whatever other means possible. I think you should take it.

Thank you guys, I have contacted my interviewer and arranged an interview for tomorrow. I didn’t mean to be offensive, I just thought my interviewer was a bit lazy, but I guess he’s doing everything to help me…

Thumbs down for an alumn offering to interview you via skype because they can’t reach you in person? I understand if getting a webcam is a problem, but it sounds like its not.
Get the interview
