I got rejected. It’s okay. Hope all of you have a great experience!
Also getting errors with that pre summer work page. At first the email they sent me had no username, and after I emailed them I got my username and tried to log in but now I’m getting a “Too many redirects” error. Has anyone managed to log in?
Same thing happens for me
I logged into to my course portal but it says “No Access Alert” and I can’t see any course materials or assignments? Does anyone have the same issue and has anyone figured out a way to fix it?
I emailed LaunchX to see if they could help with any of this.
I got rejected from LaunchX . I am now trying to figure what went wrong and how I could have improved my application. Also, I didn’t get called for an interview. I was wondering how they call people for interviews. Do they arrange interviews after reviewing the person’s applications or before that ?
@LemonSine my interviewer said that to get to the interview stage you would have passed through 3 rounds of review, and I’m pretty sure I read that everyone gets their application reviewed at least twice. So, the interviews come after application review.
@LemonSine Same thing happened to me. But it’s okay!
I felt that my application was pretty good, but I didn’t have much entrepreneurial experience or side projects. Then again, plenty of others without entrepreneurial experience got in. Does this mean that there was a red flag in my application?
Also, just wondering, does this mean I have no chance at MIT?
Will acceptance rate stats be posted soon?
For anyone who is having trouble logging in to the pre-work edvance360 website, your username is the first letter of your name capitalized and your surname capitalized (e.g. if your name was John Smith your username would be JSmith). If you’re getting any kind of errors try resetting your password (try that TWICE before giving up, didn’t work for me the first time)
Also, to anyone who didn’t get accepted - don’t worry about it. I got rejected last year but got accepted this year. Look at videos of people who got accepted and try to understand what set them apart - in most cases, it’s personal projects done in their spare time. If you’re thinking of applying next year, try to find something that sets you apart from most applicants and work on it. Grades are not at all important - the most important thing is the video and the interview.
did anyone else not get a link with the prework? like should I be concerned that I haven’t?
@FalconV I did create a Launch club at my school this year and I thought that would be a huge boost. Does it actually help?
Also, for personal projects, I released two apps on the App Store, but didn’t get a lot of downloads or create anything super advanced. I also mentioned that I’m working on a machine learning reasearch project.
And I’m a junior, so I probably won’t have this opportunity again. Does anyone here have any suggestions for other opportunities this summer?
Does anyone here think it’s possible to appeal? If I sent a really great appeal email, might they reconsider?
@frostsnake If you’ve been accepted, email info[at]launchx[dot]com. They’re dealing with a lot of issues with the pre-work system they’re using.
@HopefulDesi I suggest you don’t email them, it’s highly unlikely that they will change their decision and worse case scenario, it might put across a bag image.
@HopefulDesi They only have a select amount of spots per city, and I’m not even sure there’s a wait list. I’d suggest you don’t email them, and try again next year! The admit rates for those who were rejected first is double of the regular rate of that year!
Also, I asked my interviewer what types of people they wanted at Launch, because I have more of an entrepreneurial background instead of hard technical skills. She said that LaunchX wants a diverse set of skillsets, but about 25% are really, really technical, knowing in depth on how to code various languages, while others have backgrounds in management, marketing, and design. Earlier you said you released apps on the App Store, but you didn’t release anything to super advanced, maybe that was it?
In terms of other summer programs, I know a lot of universities still have rolling admission for their pre-college. It’s great because it’s around the same price as LaunchX, but you get college credit if you pass! It also caters to the type of classes you want to take / interested in.
Anyways, it seems like you’re a hard worker and really have a passion, so if you apply next year (which you should) best of luck!
Hey guys, I got into Launch at Northwestern and I am an international student from Uganda. I wanted to know more about the program so someone who knows a lot please HMU
Hey I wanted to know more about everything in general
I also wanted to know if someone here applied for financial aid, coz I did and I dont know what happens next
So the acceptance packet said that there is no gym, do you guys know if we can still exercise somehow?
We do mental exercises as programmers
