@dinsour hmmm… When you receive an interview email, it says that you were selected as one of the highly competitive candidates for the program. AND last years applicants that were accepted all received interviews.
yea I don’t think getting the location email means you’re accepted. I think all accepted applicants must go through the interview process. Not sure what/when the location email is going to be sent, but I’m quite certain that that email will be sent to everyone at some point.
it could be that getting it promptly after the interview means something though…since me and a few others haven’t gotten the location preference email after our interviews.
Emmm since the the review process is on a rolling basis, do they still give out interviews in February?
The following situations occurred to have gotten the location preference email
- No views on video/no interview
2.Promptly after the interview
The following situations to have NOT received the location preference email
- Had a request for an interview/ Finished an interview
(Am I correct?)
actually now thinking about it, they could have just used the interview process to eliminate/accept some applicants. they probably sent the email to applicants who they liked after the interview and delayed the others. then they’ll probably look at the applicants who didn’t get an interview and send them into the final application process and review them there…just what I think they may be doing, not confirmed by any source
Nah… I think the ones who get interviews are the ones they like. Otherwise they wouldn’t waste time on someone they don’t want
I thought most of the people who get interviews are accepted though
^good point. But, why would they call the group that was interviewed “highly competitive” and say “congratulations”?
And, since previously accepted applicants from last year were interviewed (like a second round) wouldn’t they want to guarantee that the admitted students were ‘amazing’ not just from an application but from a real conversation?
yea, but it could be different this year because they have new locations?
I think congratulations as in congrats on making it past the first round, but not acceptance. not all people who got interviews got accepted I’m pretty sure.
my own interview wuz a little more than a week ago i think
and its likely not everyone accepted will receive an interview since theres way more locations this year meaning way more people accepted. its harder for them to interview every one of those people
and by the way what does the application status say for everyone? mine is final review
@dinsour same here no interview though
the location update seems like a good indicator to me since not everyone received it. and it makes sense since if its someone that they dont want it wouldnt matter where they prefer for location
@dinsour all the people who don’t have interviews got the location email though
is that so? it doesnt seem to be the trend among my friends
everyone that will b accepted MUST at some point receive the location update email, theres no getting around it. the upenn location is a new one and dates were just finalized
According to what my son and I have been sent, this year was the most competitive application pool ever, being sent a location update email does not equal being accepted. Having an interview does not mean you will be accepted either. Just be patient everyone, and don’t stress about it! The location email was sent to most applicants. Getting a location email doesn’t mean you are getting accepted, so my advice to everyone here is to relax and wait for a letter. Last year several kids from the school my son goes to got interviews and were rejected. Good luck everyone!
Edit: in case anyone is wondering we live in the washington area, they might be starting with certain areas first? Not sure.
so I’m guessing that not getting the location email means that we have no chance though
