@thekidnextdoor where did you find these facebook groups for each session? I was accepted into the Session 1 of MIT Launch, but I never joined any facebook page
also if anyone has any questions, I’d be happy to try and help!! I was accepted in the early decision for session 1
@anontron Dmitris Chatzis- He was accepted, Daniel Ore, Paul Shumacher, and Albert Zhang were some of my favirotes
Dmitris’ video was so creative… What videos did you like @ADA110?
are you asking for this year or for any year? @anontron
@CarterJHerman11 - I’m not sure how selective they are, although they do claim they go through a college admission-like process to select participants. They increased their tuition price by a lot this year, and based on the price, personally, I don’t think it was worth it for a couple of reasons, one of them being a personal reason. I didn’t learn as much as I wanted to because they assumed that everyone could code very well (which was not the case for me) and based their lesson plans off of that assumption; I only knew some HTML and a little bit of CSS) and it was hard for me to understand what we were learning. However, it was a relatively new course, so I wouldn’t give them a hard time for that. I was disappointed that we ended up taking our classes in our dorm living room and not a room inside of the university, but I believe it’s different for each course. Some courses are held in actual classrooms while others are held in the dorms. I did have tons of fun though; I met a lot of new friends and the trips were fun (we went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and Capitola Beach). Overall, based on my experience, the program was not worth it, educationally. Great social event though.
This year
Off the top of my head, I would say my favorite videos were the ones by Dmitris Chatzis, Kimberly Hou, and Daniel Ore! And this also may be biased, but I’m proud of mine as well lol. But their videos were REALLY creative!! I loved them! @anontron
Can I see yours? And anymore?
sure, i can pm you! @anontron
@anniemit do you know how I could join the session 1 facebook page? I was accepted but I didn’t know about this page haha
@CollegeCraze72 and @ADA110 - Just type in MIT Launch in the search bar on Facebook and when the results come up, click “groups” and you should be able to find two groups that are for this year’s program (look for 2016). Click “join group” and I think you might have to wait while one of the admins adds you to the group.
@CarterJHerman11 - I really liked your video! It was really well made.
@treeroot what were some of your favorites?
@Treeroot Thank you very much!
Also, good luck everyone!
@Treeroot do you know whether there is a group for session 1?
@anontron - There were quite a few, but I can’t quite remember them from the top of my head. The last time I watched the videos was about two months ago, and the only reason I still remember CarterJHerman11’s video is because he kept updates on his application status under his video.
@ADA110 - I thought I saw one for session 1 for 2016, but apparently there isn’t one. You could always try emailing someone from MIT Launch about it. Sorry!
I think the group for session 1 became private or something because I remember seeing it a few weeks ago
@Bse15578 - I was sure that I saw it as well! That may be the case, since you can make “secret” groups on Facebook. In that case, @ADA110 you should definitely contact someone from MIT Launch to add you to the 1st session group! You can always try to message one of the admins of the 2nd session, since they are staff of the program.
