MIT Launch Summer Program 2016

@bitensky
Hi!

Some applicants will be offered an opportunity to interview in the admissions process after we have reviewed all he applications.

You will be notified late February/Early March. It’s a good idea to apply EA if you can, that way you can get confirmation of your summer plans a little earlier, and still have time to make or cancel other plans depending on your admissions decision!

You can black out your social security number, we do not need it on your transcript.

Hope this helps!

Best,
Annie

@anniemit Does an interview guarantee admission? Do all accepted applications get an interview at some point?

Hello, I have a question as well. I’m finished with my application, but my video is 2 minutes 4 seconds. The Hitchhiker’s guide on the Launch website says that it should be 90 seconds or less. Will I be penalized in the application review process if my video is 30 seconds too long?

If I was not able to apply for EA, will that hurt my chances of being accepted? I could not apply for EA due to not knowing for sure that I would be able to attend. Thanks

Thanks! :slight_smile:

@bitensky

Unfortunately, interview does not guarantee acceptance. We do try to interview as many students as we can after our first few rounds in the admissions process to give us a better understanding of you as an applicant.

@kagustudios

Hi! Please try to keep it under 90 seconds as we have to view MANY applications this year. A longer video isn’t going to penalize you in the sense that you “broke the rules, so we’re going to reject you” but it does show a lack of consideration for the guidelines of our application and the admissions process.

@HritikKumar

No, there is no difference in the way we admit student between the two different application timelines. Don’t worry, applying Regular Decision will just mean that you will receive your admission decision with all the other RD applicants.

What are you guys looking forward during the interview? Are there ways I can prepare somewhat haha?

@terrancelee2017 Don’t worry too much, the interview is not a technical interview because we do not expect all applicants to have entrepreneurship experience. Mostly, the interview is just for us to clarify any further questions we have about your application, and to get a sense of what you’re like :slight_smile:

Hope this helps!

@anniemit Do we need to request interview or is it offered totally on the choice of MIT?

@hoshjoshe Interviews are offered to some students after we review their applications. We do not accept requests for interviews.

@anniemit One last thing; How would you compare Yale Global Scholars to MIT Launch summer program? To me they both look identical but is there any difference I should be aware of? Thank you once again. :slight_smile:

@hoshjoshe
I am not very familiar with Yale Global Scholars because I did not participate in the program. However, one thing that really sets Launch apart from most programs is that it is VERY hands-on. MIT Launch is structured so that not only will you take the classes necessary to teach you about all different aspects of entrepreneurship, but you will also build a real company and a real team and a real solution. At MIT Launch, the experience goes far beyond just a virtual business plan, and many teams create tangible products and even continue after the program to work on their companies and execute their ideas.

hello, what can I use as a proof for fee waiver? I’m not on a free lunch program or something similar. Will a statement from my counselor be enough?

Also, our school does not give out GPAs, so what should I fill in those boxes asking for UW/W GPAs?

Hey guys! My name is Rishi Talati, and I am an alumnus of the MIT Launch Class of 2014! Although Russell is wayyyyy more qualified at answering your questions, I can certainly answer any questions you may have: just let me know! :slight_smile:

Hey Rishi, I have a couple of questions I would like to ask you in private. Please email me at hritikkumarcapital@gmail.com. Thanks

I noticed that there are no meal plans included. So may I know how much that costs per person or day or something else?

Thanks again!
