MIT Launch Summer Program 2016

Hey Annie, I submitted my application with the transcript. I got my Mandarin O Level result later. I have uploaded it on the site under “Add Documents”. My question is: How do I submit this document now as the only options it gives me are : View Edit & Delete.
Thank you for your time.

@hoshjoshe You are correct that there are no meal plans included. MIT does not keep open their dorm dining halls during the summer. A lot of students will cook for themselves. Depending on how much you eat, and how often you eat out, a week’s worth of meal can range from $50-$150+. Personally, I cooked for myself this entire past summer while living in the dorms with the Launch students and I was able to get by on $60 worth of groceries every week (not including occasionally going out for dinner)

Hope this helps!!
Annie

@Admission371

If you are still able to upload, then upload the document. If not, you may email to info@launchsummer.org with an explanation of your situation with the O Level results.

Hope this helps!
Annie

Hey @anniemit

I was wondering if a teacher recommendation was needed for the application, it doesn’t appear to require one on the web application however I vaguely recall someone saying that rec letters were needed.

Thanks!

@B2ocaj We do not ask for teacher recommendations. Two years ago, I think it was an optional part of the application (maybe where you heard this from?) but its is no longer a part of our application.

Hope this helps!
Annie

@anniemit
Awesome!
Another question: Does this program have any relation to MIT Sloan and where specifically will the program be held on MIT?
Thanks again.

Hey there! Does anyone happen to know at what point do people begin to get notified if they’ve been selected for an interview? Thanks!

Hi, I’m having a bit of trouble with the question that asks: How many AP, IB, A-levels, or college courses have you taken? Please count from 9th grade through the end of the current school semester.

I am a sophomore/grade 10 student in Canada, and this year I am taking two Enriched courses, which are roughly the equivalent of an Honors or Pre-AP course in the US. Should these courses be included in my answer to this question?
As well, I attended an IB school in grade 9, where all the courses I took had an IB component tied into the teaching. Should these be included too? Thanks!

I received an email for an interview about 10 days ago, and had my interview yesterday. Does the interview play a heavy deciding factor on admissions?

@CarterJHerman11 When did you submit your application?

@QuVntt I submitted my application early december.

@CarterJHerman11 oh ok. I submitted mine in later December so Im going to stay hopeful for that interview!

@CarterJHerman11 do you mind telling me what the interview was like? Was it over Skype? What sort of stuff did you have in your app?

Does all students who apply for MIT Launch receive interview dates on mail.Basically can it be deducted that if you do not get interview call it means you are not selected. In the application process nowhere it says that intervie will be conducted.Pls help me with answers senior Launch students

@mitstate the interview was over skype, it is more of a relaxed conversation. Ms.Stach is super nice and the interview is just so she can get to know you a little more.

@B2ocaj The program is partly taught by MIT Sloan lecturers and classes are held at the MIT Sloan school.

@26443586 No, do not count honors or pre-AP classes in your AP class count. If your 9th grade classes weren’t actual IB classes then don’t count those either.

@anniemit How much do grades play a role in admissions? Do you guys actually count number of AP classes and such?

@anniemit How do we know if our applications have been reviewed? If you do not receive a notification for an interview, does that mean there is no chance of acceptance?

@anniemit Also, how are decisions on who to interview made?
