MIT: Master Interview Thread

I guess that would be fine..thanks!

Should we thank the interviewer? Like sending her an email ?

you dont have too, I guess it would be curtesy above all right?

It's always nice to thank your interviewer

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but are we supposed to have finished our interviews before January 1st (if we are applying RD)?

There's no hard deadline for the date by which the interview must be held, but earlier is better -- your EC needs time to write and submit your interview report to MIT.

The deadline to contact your EC is December 10 for RD, and I suspect that most ECs will try to schedule the interview much in advance of January 1, if at all possible.

Hey guys. I'm another aspiring MIT person, student, whatever. I haven't scheduled an interview yet (I need to get on that, and fast!) but I was wondering if any of you guys live in CA and have Mr. Garret Moose as the interviewer?

From everywhere that i read, the deadline for scheduling the interview for the regular action admissions is December 10th. But on my.mit.edu, when i went under application tracking here's what i found!! Whats going on?!

"Interview Not Processed The deadline to schedule your interview has passed. You may still contact your Educational Counselor with any questions about MIT; he or she may also have a last-minute opening. If you completed your interview and we have not received the report, please fill out a Conducted Interview form. We will follow up with your Educational Counselor."

Perhaps it is an EA glitch - meaning it hasn't been changed for RD?

contact anyways...probably a glitch

The deadline for contacting your interviewer for RD is December 10. Go ahead and contact your interviewer.

I tried and unfortunately he hasn't responded back. I emailed him about a week ago, and i left him a voicemail at his work phone number (since it was the one provided). If he doesn't respond by tomorrow, does anyone have suggestions about what to do?

maybe contact MIT and ask for an EC switch

Let MIT know before the deadline that you have contacted your EC via phone and e-mail but have not recieved a response. I think the deadline is for actually making contact (which you have met) Not for the actual interview (Mollie can you verify?)

Right, it's the deadline for contacting the EC, and even that can be flexible given the right set of circumstances.

Let me send an email to Kim, the director of the ECs, and see what her advice is.

EDIT: Sent the email. We'll give her some time to answer -- she's probably very busy around this time of year. :)

Why not try & call him again. And send another email.

I tried again, however no luck. I did some more research, and apparently I should have given a minimum of 2 weeks for the EC to respond back. Seeing as how this deadline is rapidly approaching though, I think i'm going to call MIT tomorrow and see what i can do.

This appears to be what you are doing (or did already), but Kim confirms:

At this point, the RD applicant should contact the EC office to see if there is another EC in the area that he could contact. Waiting much longer means he could run out of time.

I hope you were able to find another EC today!

Son's interview was waived due to distance (about 3 hours)
What is son required to do at this point to notify MIT. Should he forward the e-mail to admissions? How does he make sure admissions knows the interview was waived by the EC?

Yea, I emailed MIT on Thursday night and they responded back by Friday. They gave me the information of another EC, and I will be contacting her shortly. Thanks for the help everyone.
