My average in my AP English class dropped from a 97% to and 87% from the first quarter to the second quarter. In this class, we have to read daily from a book, and we get a quiz on it everyday. The problem is that my autistic brother was having behavior problems, and since I am the one who takes care of him most of the time, I had to continually visit his school to speak to his teachers. As a result, I began to fall back on the reading, and my quiz average dropped.
Should I mention this in the "update section" of the MIT mid year report and the mid year reports of other colleges?
Is this a legitamite excuse, and will the adcoms buy it without thinking I am someone making up stupid excuses?
Help!!!

Follow up question: Let’s say if the adcoms accepts this excuse, will they not hold my grade decrease against me, according to my situation?

I don’t think a 10% drop in an English class is enough to warrant an excuse.

Not that you shouldn’t mention helping your brother, just that you shouldn’t directly cite that as an example of your grade drop. 97% to 87% probably wont even be a blip on MIT’s radar.

don’t worry, my essays are all about autism and helping to find a soultion through three+ research, and a small reading and writing workshop I co-founded.
