MIT Minority Introduction to Engineering and Science (MITES)

REJECTION here. Good luck to all who are still waiting! :)

nothing today either.
i hate living in south florida.

I have nothing today as well. I feel like tomorrow is the day that it will come! Akutamatata, sorry about your rejection, but can you tell me when your letter was mailed out on the envelope? Also, can those that just received or have not yet received their mail give out the first letter of their last name?
Mine is "Z"
I just want to see whether or not they sent everything out alphabetically.

no mail yet.............

It does not matter if it's standard or priority, I should have gotten my rejection letter (lol) by now.....

yyoon, what are you talking about "lying" in our application? How does that have to do with anything?

umm yea--the envelope says mailed on "April 10th"
First letter of last name= "E"
Seriously, I wish all of the rest of you the best of luck! :) Don't lose hope!!!

Ok I've come to the conclusion that the acceptance letters were mailed on the 9th and the rejection letters were mailed on the 10th. This explains why we have a bunch of accepted on this forum at first and then a bunch of people rejected. Of course this doesn't mean 100% that if you get a letter tomorrow or friday that you will be rejected, because the time it takes the mail varies. But take note of this trend.
Also, there is a likely hood that people who receive the rejection letters might be weight-listed. Although I don't think anyone who has the rejection letter has read of it(is that right?).
I really don't know how many people there are on the weighting list, but if I remember right, around 10-20 MITES accepted students don't go(not that sure about this stat though).
So anyways, even for the rejected, there is hope!
:)

Is there anyone here not going for sure?

It could open up slots....

i got rejected and it was send on the 14th.
i think they are still considering a couple more people for mites.
that's probably why. so don't lose hope yet.
because 14th is a lot later than 9th and 10th. so yeah.
so they didnt send out everything in one day.
my letter was send first class. hope that would help!

Something fishy is going on....everyone here says (including me) that the lady in the MITES office said that **EVERYTHING/B were mailed out on Thursday...

Why would they misinform us?

i think they are still considering a couple of people to either put of the waiting list or to even accept them! So for those of you that didn't get mail yet. You have a good chance of getting accepted or put on the waiting list!

GOOD LUCK GUYS!
even though it would have been awesome to go to mites. i got rejected. :(

yeah. i agree it seems weird that they would misinform us about the date the letters were send out! I wish more people that received rejection letters would post the date their letters were send!

yea, guys. Everyone who've received a letter please write up the dates! This is great news for those of us who've not received a letter yet. We gotta keep our hopes up!

I'm sure many of you guys will make it.. i hope to see soooooo many of you there...

^.^

hey , did any of you guys get an invitation from an FBI free new summer program?

lol, FBI has a summer program? What do they do? Train future potential FBI agents?

do you guys know any other summer programs that are still open?

nope sorry i don't know of any.. besides ones that may be offered by clubs at individual schools.

You might want to find a job. That's what I was planning on doing (until I checked the mail last Saturday).

For those of you who haven't got anything yet: Seriously, don't assume you're rejected yet. There's some weirdness going on - and there's the possibility of a waitlist - so don't give up.

In fact, I though that there was NO WAY they would accept me. My grades and test scores are among the bottom bracket for ppl around here (and I had like no ECs). Also, some ppl earlier in this thread were talking about being OVERQUALIFIED for MITES, so although we may be brilliant, our stats do not have to be RSI status.
