MIT MITES Summer 2014

@sewj97 @Existentialized‌ There are no waitlists for any of the programs. If a person doesn’t accept his/her spot, it is lost.

I got into MITES!! I saw the results right before 5th period began and wanted to cry and scream and dance in class lol! I seriously doubted I would be accepted because I didn’t think I fit into the “minority” category but this definitely shows to alwaaaaays give something a try, even if you think there’s no way it will happen!

Congrats to all of those that got in!!! Trust me you will have an AMAZING 6 weeks (or 1 week or 6 months) :smiley: If you got any questions or anything feel free to shoot me a PM or whatever you want :p.

And to all those of you that didn’t get the news you expected, my MIT alum interviewer had gotten rejected from MITES ;)

Just wanted to stop by and say hello…for those of you who didn’t get in & worry that you won’t get into great colleges next spring don’t fret! My daughter did NOT get into the MITES program & was accepted to some amazing colleges. So please, don’t worry!

I honestly don’t know how I got into MITES. I have taken quite the bountiful amount of AP classes(Human,Chem,CompSci, World,Physics C Mechanical and Electrical, BC Calc, AP USH, and AP Lang) as well as I Dual Enrolled Business Law 1, Intro to Business, Principals of Accounting, and intro to Oral Communications. My overall GPA was 4.4 weighted and 3.8 un. I do mostly Robotics after school. Im currently the President and Captain. I actually go to a nice school and I do have a lot of STEM opportunities that I take advantage of them. I am Black and a financially in need student. My essays were solid I guess but not really the tear jerkers but they did show real passion (Feel free to PM if you’d like to read them). And lastly, I had sub par SAT scores, I scored a 1980 and a 198 on the PSAT. But, I did know someone from MITES last year and they put a word in for me so I don’t know if that contributed to the decision.

I’ll see some of you at E2!

@screamingpumpkin‌ join our fb group! It’s called E2@MIT 2014

@luckystar888 I’m already in it! :slight_smile: I’ve been talking to everyone in that group

Hi guys! I’ve also been tracking this conversation - just too lazy to create a CC account. Congratulations to ALL who have been accepted! To the people who weren’t accepted, do not become discouraged and I’m so sorry that I don’t get to meet you - I’m sure all of you are very intelligent people :slight_smile: I was one of the lucky ones that got into MITES, so I made a group for the people who have been accepted to MITES so we can all meet each other! <a href=“MITES 2014 | Facebook”>https://www.facebook.com/groups/139157529588054/</a></p>

Yeah I’m a white kid from fairly noncompetitive so miracles do happen

@SineSquareSaw‌ @JRez96 @RFAtoIVY @Ginnymills @bolkevlp @Skye3197 @UseTheForceHarry @Mathmaticious all of you join the “MOSTEC 2014” page (If you haven’t already that is, just search it)

@vcdavidjohn‌ That link did not work.

@NanoEngineer‌ **** = facebook (dot) com
sorry! I didn’t think facebook links would be blocked

Congratulations to all of you, whether you were accepted to MITES, E2, MOSTEC, or will instead cross paths with everyone further down the line (you are all awesome and so, this is inevitable). Good luck with senior year coming up (o, to be young again lol) and good luck with your next step in life, whatever that may be!

I do want to mention that unfortunately, due to the number of applicants we have, it’s really hard (read: mission impossible) for us to provide feedback on everyone’s application. And as some of you may have noticed, there isn’t just one thing that makes a strong applicant for the programs. These are not easy decisions, which is why it takes so long to complete the process. Some of you may (or may not) know that both E2@MIT and MOSTEC were only started four years ago so the office could serve more students. And even with these two additional programs, there are still few spots for the number of qualified applications we receive. Keep that in mind going forward!

@imanahmed29‌ @Browndino‌ @starchow @programmer8‌ @GlitterQueen‌ I made a facebook group for those accepted to MITES!! https://www.facebook.com/groups/139157529588054/</a>

@AmaranthineD “If you are not able to accept our offer, please notify us as soon as possible so that we can offer the position to another candidate before the program begins.” There’s still hope for those rejected!

I was also accepted into E2! While I wanted to get into MITES of course, this allows me to go to another program that would have conflicted with MITES. So I’m pretty excited. Can’t wait to meet everyone!

Hello everybody!
As you all know I am recently new here; however, I have been following this thread and other for a long time. I figured I want to join in on the fun because I also got accepted to E2@MIT!
