Can anyone confirm that MIT only looks at ACT Math and English?
Asides from MIT, do any other school do this?

Isn’t there a science section on the ACT? I don’t know why MIT would ignore that.

The only section of a standardized exam that I’ve heard of MIT ignoring is the SATI writing section.

There is a science section on the ACT; however, I have heard that it is replaced with the science subject test we send.

Can anyone confirm this?

We do not “only look at” the math and english sections. We will interchange the math and english sections with the SAT math and english, or vice versa, depending on which one you performed higher on. The science test on the ACT and SAT are so different they cannot be exchanged in this way.

We do probably put more weight on the math and english sections, as we have found it to be very predictive of success at MIT; however, the scores on the other sections pop right up with everything else, and when questions arise about an applicant’s preparedness, I’ve certainly heard people refer to the other sections in committee.
